Medium Size Modern Station

For my current route project I'm looking for something either built in or on the DLS which could represent this:

Preferably standalone and not interactive. I've had a rummage through myself and can't find anything obvious so if anyone has come across something that fits I'll be eternally grateful. It doesn't have to be an actual station building, could be a non-railway structure which can be doctored with signs to look the part.

Vern,

Take a look at the buildings by Paulzmay. He made some modern looking buildings that might suit this. Ray Whiley, now that I think of it made some modern British stations that look very close to these.

Here are his items

The ones listed by John are complete stations with buildings and platforms but the buildings are also available separately in three different colour schemes - green, red or grey panels - and I'm happy for anyone to change these colours in the art files to any of their choice - it just means a little work. Look for 'Modern SB UK' and 'Modern shelter' - some are units which can be assembled in any order to the user's requirements and there are too many to list here!

Downloaded station buildings Ray but TS2009 CMP throwing up warning...

Warning: 'alls' is not a valid value for tag 'category-era'. This tag is now empty and a new value must be selected.

I presume they will still appear in game okay though?

Vern, if you open the asset in Content Creator Plus, it will probably show the tag highlighted in red. I find that these can normally be deleted and it removes the warning. Ray will know for sure.

Anyway, my turn to ask now.

I'm having trouble locating single platform canopies for modern UK routes. I've tried the DLS but my search under 'canopy' and 'roof' hasn't turned up anything suitable for single platforms. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

Sorry Vern this looks like a typing error on my part (or maybe the config got corrupted somehow!) as it should read "all" - and anything incorrect should have been rejected on uploading! I've had a look at some of these station models in my Scenery folder and haven't found this error in any I looked at - and they all worked in TRS2004 when I checked before uploading. I suggest trying altering it to "all" and if this doesn't work, let me know the KUIDs involved and I will upload revisions to avoid problems for anyone else. I only have 2004 so can't check in 2009 etc.

Ray

Later - I've just used TrainzObjectz to check the config files of all my modern station buildings and platform shelters and no errors were reported - so I'm at a loss to know what has happened.

Ray Whiley,

I'm liking what I see so far, your station stuff looks good. I was wondering about a couple of things about your stations.

1. How long are the platforms (passenger industry enabled, I assume)? I'm asking since on my route, I run 8 - 12 car commuter / passenger train consists and the full 12 car consist is about 250 meters long. Add in about 50 meters for locomotives and a bit of leeway for braking, so about 300 meters length total.

2. Is it possible to have these stations use the 5 meter track spacing that the US system uses? The UK uses 3.5 or 4 meter track spacing.

Lemme know, thanks!

Hi Veristek

The platform length of my stations named 'Station UK' is 250 metres to take a UK HST. They are not passenger enabled; as track is not included I felt that users could add a 'basic' passenger enabled station of their choice. The spacing between platforms is for UK track centre-to-centre spacing of 3.5 metres and to use a wider track spacing would mean that trains would collide with the platforms.

However you could use my series with the username starting 'Platform UK' followed by numbers. These include various platform splines, so the length could be anything you need, with matching sloping and plain ends. Again, the height is to UK standards ie. 1.3 metres in Trainz. My series named 'Platform LRT' are similar but to a lower height, 1.1 metres aimed at being appropriate for Docklands Light Railway vehicles. Most if not all of the end units include markers (Surveyor only) showing UK track spacing but these could be ignored. Height could be adjusted if losing part of the end slopes could be acceptable.

Please let me know if I can be of any further help.

Ray

Vern. you can fix the problem by replacing alls with 2000. no "" needed. Or any other year if you want.
