Can anyone help cuz I really want to start this project this weekend cuz I have like a four day weekend so ya.
Susan,
No time to help with the build, although I would love to. Mr. Chauvet used what appears to be UTM tiles from TranzDem to give him the basboards and the image. With that he's able to place objects in their accurate position and use the DEM GIS information to generate the topography.
Placing objects is one thing, but finding accurate ones is another. In order to have a truly accurate representation, you'll need to make a lot of objects particularly for the T Green Line out to Boston College. You could get away with a representation using built-in and other creator's assets, but it would be as accurate as you probably want it to be.
Right now I'm working on Bradford and Haverhill, which I've merged into my own route. This is not a 100% accurate representation, but the buildings for me are close enough, and I live here. My dad thought the it looked pretty close too and he grew up in the area from the time he was 13, or back when all the mills were still in operation, and there was actually a train station instead of a couple of platforms with giant parking lots.
On my route, I've even put in the abandoned Georgetown branch as far as Main Street Bradford, with plans of extending it as far as Byfield and eventually to Newburyport, via the Georgetown wye.
This is a lot of work with no time limit ever placed on it. I work feverishly on weekends and barely get a chance to touch it during the week.
