Maybe a stupid question but... - Open for Edit

In the content manager for Trainz 2019 (compared to previous versions/pre-TANE) I have several assets listed under "Status" that indicate "Open for Edit" or Open for Edit/Payware". In the past either these assets were automatically "committed" or you could manually commit them. I looked over the forum, wiki manual and have not found anything to address this. They do work (function), but is there a way, method to commit these assets as in the past versions of Content Manager. I would think at some point it would not show open for edit. Sorry if this may be a dumb question but still on the learning curve with 2019...Thanks in advance!

Thank you everyone...that answers my question! Just trying to get everything in order for my son's Christmas present. Have to say late at night I've really enjoyed it so far and I know he will too. He has been asking for Trainz 2019 for a LONG time.

Change of wording, you now "Submit Edits" (or Submit Changes... it's Submit something, I'm at work so don't have the new CM in front of me.)

Revert to original, they are most of the time open for edit because you are trying to install something that is already installed, committing may cause issues especially with payware. Any updates will have installed properly only items with the same kuid will cause this.

"Open for Edit", as listed by others above, can be the result of ...

  • an asset you have manually opened for editing (e.g. updated its thumbnail or altered something in its config.txt file). It will remain open until you submit it.
  • a route/session left open because of a system crash. Route/sessions have to be "opened" to be used in Surveyor and Driver and are "closed" on exiting normally. After a crash, check CM for assets that are open for edit and submit them.
  • installing an asset that you already have installed. This commonly occurs if you have manually downloaded and attempted to install a .cdp file of an asset with the same kuid number as one already installed. In my case it can occur when I have edited a route or session on one computer and transfer its updated .cdp file to a second computer and attempt to install on Trainz there - the simple workaround is to delete the asset from CM on the target computer before installing.
