Markers

Why would a simple marker slow down a train to half speed? When my locos reach one marker and are directed to the next, they slow down to approximately half speed. My speed limits are 35 mph. Anyone have an answer to this one?

Thanks in advance!:)

Any yellow signals in the way?

If you have a line or section of line with less than 3 signals , AI Drivers will only drive at 18 MPH top whack. If you try to send them onto a line which has no buffers/railends at the end, they will refuse to drive on it just as real drivers would.

I read a tutorial once on speed limit signs, cant remember where it is but sometimes half is faster than full speed. Try changing the speed limit to 60 for 30-35 mph speeds.

I don't think this is anything to do with signalling, I've never had a train go through a "via trackmark" at full speed, they always slow down as they approach the trackmark, then once they have cleared the trackmark and the instruction is gone from the queue they resume full speed.

This marker is two miles down the track. and there are no signals between the train and the marker.

Ok - but trains always slow down when set to go via trackmark. Signalling might be causing other issues, but it doesn't cause trains to slow down when they complete the via trackmark instruction.

Do a test, build a single track fairly long with an industry at each end, signal it correctly, then run a train direct from one industry to the other. It will run at full speed the whole way.

Now tell it to go via a trackmark half way down the track and it will slow down for the trackmark.

A class 37 running light slowed from 70kph to 55kph on completing its "via trackmark" command, before speeding back up and running to the second industry.
