Just the other night I created a layout in TRS 09, but when I went to take that same layout back to use it in TRS06...Uh Oh!.... I got an error message telling me that I had tried to opene a map with no trains on it, go back to main menu", which means that I tried to open a map/layout in 2006, that I had previously created in TRS 09, that TRS 06 could not read.... basciallythe ma/layout I had created in 09, was not compatible in 06, as none of the layouts you create in 09 can be duplicated for use on another computer that you may have TRS 06 loaded on. Yet, you can bring a map/layout from TRS 06, that you have saved as a CDP into 09 and open it for use without any such problems, it does not work going the other way...
It seems that you cannot create a layout in 2009, save it as a CDP and have it backwards compatible, but you can come from 06 to 09....
I think you can also create a layout in the old TRS 04, and bring that through via 06, by 'Importing Content' as opposed to Import CDP, save it as a CDP, and bring it on into 09 by importing your CDP. but it don't wanna work the other way.
is this a mechansim put in by Auran to encourage you to do away with TRS 06, and go for TRS09, or is this a glitch that prevents you from copying one of your layouts from 09 back to duplicate it in 06?....
Some older laptops may not be capable of handling 09, or may not have sufficient memory to run it..and though it would be easy to have more memory put in, some older laptops cannot accept any more than 2 gbyts. these laptops are idea for taking with us on holidays, but you want to be able to run the same layouts in both 09 and 06,
the only way out of this it seems is to create your layouts in 06, and duplicated them for 09.
I was not expecting this problem to crop up till the other night when I had done a layout in 09, that I wouldn't mind taking back to 06, and when I had saved the layout as a CDP, in 09, then went to use 06 on my other laptop.... Oooops!...What?.... I got that error message...and found that I could not make am 09 layout work in 06.... is there a fix for that? or is that how 09 and 06 have been designed?
