i didn't know where to post this. i am presently running 09 but have upgrades on the way to do tane.
my problem is i opened content manager and for the fourth time malwarebytes has taken trainz from the computer. which means i have to re-install again[4 times now].
needless to say this is getting very bad for my blood pressure.
is there anything i can do to stop this before the big one takes me down?
tahnx

i just about finished repairing my route, consisting of road and level xings, when the window in the corner popped up. no internet work just working on the files in content manager.
i just don't get why it take the whole game down.

Should be able to restore it from quarantine? What does the Malwarebytes reports say is being removed such as what malware it thinks you have?

Also might want to make sure your Malwarebytes is up to date, both definitions and the program.

i just went to the virus vault the program has. it is attacking TADDaemon. that doesn't even make sense.
time to look for another virus program.
thanx

It probably didn't take the whole game down - depending on which version you have it may be the trainz.exe or TADDaemon file.

I have known cases where those have been picked up as false positives though.

Shane

it definitely is the TADDaemon. and no, it says i have to re-install trainz.
thanx again

You should be able to restore it from quarantine within Malwarebytes. Before you do so though, add the whole Trainz folder to the exceptions list.

my son in law did the exception after the second time. i restored the game from the quarantine and now it opens but only with a progress bar in the upper left corner of the screen.

restoring it from the quarantine gave me a tiny progress bar in the upper left screen. it does however let me access the content manager. the very thing it is going after. ironic
thanx anyway

I exclude the Trainz folders from any form of on access / real time scanning, if nothing else it stops AV's and anti malware slowing down Trainz.

Why do you think that Malwarebytes has got it wrong? It seems to me that that your first assumption should be that the file is infected with a virus, and should be deleted. Then do a full scan to remove the trojan that is installing the virus, then replace the file from the original source, not from the vault.

A lot of people run Malwarebytes and do not have this problem on an uninfected file.

actually it singled our TADDaemon. i ran a scan against the trainz folder. NADA
this is the fourth time.

Hi
Get rid of that virus program.[
Use the free [ Microsoft essential virus program ]
and you will never have any problems
i have used it now for 3 tears

You may want to get a second opinion on that system as Microsoft's own antivirus tool has come last in at least one of the antivirus software tests I know of which was done by a respected lab.

TADDaemon often gets picked up by AV programs.

I would contact malwarebytes and ask them to examine your situation - there must be log files you can send to them.

Ask them how they might exclude your Trainz folder.

A typical response - I have used Malwarebytes for years. Small comfort. Stop focusing on TANE and instead contact Malware bytes staff at their web site. There you can get real help not suggestions. I also use Webroot with Malware bytes. Malware bytes focuses on system violations and Webroot is looking at malware with same day updates via the cloud when needed.

i don't have tane yet. my upgrades parts will be in tomorrow. i will be geting most of the same parts you have [boleyd]
thanx

ok here we go.
you have to restore the game from the malwarebyte quarantine and hyou will get a tiny progress bar. the bar will show on the upper left of your screen. open your options file and reset your screen size and you will have the game back.
i am still waiting for the company to get back on how to stop this pain in the rear.
many thanx to you trainzers for your help and i hope this might help anybody who has dealt with this problem.
thanx again
