making and using consists

After making a variety of consists in TS 2010 and adding them to the 'main list' in the global consist library, I thought that I would be able to go into Surveyor and add those consists to the route I want to run on - to populate its sidings, etc. I had made consists like '5 box' or '10 mixed.'

However upon going into surveyor, those consists I created do not show up. I see a list of default consists, such as 'US 500ft.'

My questions are:

1) Did I have it all wrong with my idea of creating a bunch of loose consists to add to routes? I mean, can they be added, and how?

2) where are those default consists stored in the system - they're not part of the main list of consists.

Thanks for any info.

The Global Consist Library's list is used by QuickDrive as well as some objects that are designed to use it. (Like QuickPortal.)

Surveyor has it's own list, (called SurveyorList) and you can copy your consists to it from the Global Consist tab in options. Find the consist you want to put on the Surveyor list, click the "Copy to" link, and select SurveyorList from the available lists.

As far as where the Surveyor consists are stored, (default or not) each one is an individual asset. I have no clue where Global Consist Library items are stored.

Thx. The 'copy to' works insofar that while in the Options window, and after selecting the Surveyor List, I can see my consists in the list. However, after exiting the Options window, and actually going to Surveyor, those consists do not show as being available. Frustrating.

One way or another that behavior seems to be a bug. (Either you shouldn't be able to edit the SurveyorList or the changes ought to show up in Surveyor.) I've submitted a bug report ticket on that.

Edit: Meanwhile you'll just have to re-create your consists in Surveyor.
