You would have to find an annual report for those particular railroads to find out the percentages of commodities that were hauled.

While the ATSF wanted to be an 80% intermodal railroad; at best it achieved 40-50%. Remember that the traffic and sales department is all about selling coal, grain and boxcar service much to the dismay of the VP that has declared "The boxcar business is dead."
Even today, double stack trains still top at 20% (nation wide US) despite years of continual projections in the range of 70-80%.
