Mac or Pc

I've been using Trainz on the iPad I have a Mac and a PC. What what people recommend, PC or Mac? And which Trainz should I purchase first?

Trainz runs well on both Macs and Windows. Which is best really is determined by the system specs and resources available to Trainz - and particularly the power of the graphics processor in your Mac or Windows PC.
A fast multicore CPU (for example, an Intel i7) coupled with 8+Gb or RAM on a PC or Mac may actually perform worse than another computer with a lesser CPU (say an Intel Core i5) if the i5 machine has a discrete GPU (Graphics card) and the i7 has only its integrated, on-chip GPU.

If you're considering purchasing T:ANE for either PC or MAC, check out the recommended minimum system specifications in this post:

It will cost you 3x as much to buy a Mac as a PC that can run Trainz TANE well. And the MAC will be obsolete in a few years with almost no way of upgrading. I'm facing this dilemma right now. I do love Trainz Mac but the limited GPU and inability to upgrade without major costs is a challenge. I could buy a PC for less than it would cost to upgrade to i7, 2gb GPU, SSD. And 2gb GPU is the max I can go and that's average in PC gaming world.

As a user of both, the gamer experience is more or less the same either way, although I have to say that the interface of Content Manager on Mac I find to be so much easier to use even though you don't get pictures etc.

Realistically though, I'd go PC. The main reason is that when your computer is getting old or a new version of trainz is launched, you can upgrade with relative ease, rather than buying a whole new machine as you would effectively have to with a mac.
