I've just bought a new sysytem and after backing up all my files transfered them to new system and all appeared ok, my layouts were there, and all the 5000 items i've downloaded from the DLS, however when i went into CMP to edit a loco I found none of mt downloaded items are there, i'm back to the 7000 odd that i started with. I don't understand it does anybody know whats going on and what i should do to get things back to normal ?
Thanks
PJ

Is the dispatcher folder in the world folder? Is all that content (7000 seems alot to me) visible in-game?

Matt

The cmp is in the bin folder on my original computer and also on my new one its just the amount of content has changed, 7000 items is i think what we start with but i've added lots more which is the bits that are missing.

I think there is two ways of possibly solving this,

one is to delete the assets cache file and then start CMP so it rebuilds the database and the other is to check to see if you have any assets open for edit and need commiting to enable them in surveyor.

Sorry it's only a quick answer, someone else might be able to explain in more detail or I will try to after work.

Hi Napalm Sorry but I'm only very basic with computers so don't really know what you mean, although there is nothing in cmp that needes commiting. its all there on my old computer but not on the new one, but everything else is, ie all my downloads are in surveyor for me to use but just no longer in the cmp

How did you copy it to the new computer
if the folder is very big windows copy command sometimes gets lost
and not every thing goes over
I have seen this before ( infact on the old forum there was a thread about this ) the way I solved this was to sellect 1 page at a time copy and commit, takes time but is sure to work, I just hope you still have the backup copy of the local folder, otherwise you have to start again making a backup, dont try to copy across the 2 computers by network it sure as hell will fail

Good luck

Did you use a backup system like NERO backitup? It compresses the files and you have to extract them...:(

Thanks for quick reply, I'm a bit lost when it comes to computers !! I bought an external 320gb hard drive and went to the auran folder in my computer program files and clicked the option ! "send to " I then plugged it into my new computer and sent it to its program files. Everything was saved and transfered, all my layouts downloaded items etc, just as it was on my old pc, that is in surveyor and driver, but when I start TRS and choose the option manage content, when it comes up none of my downloaded items are there, its showing 7000 odd items when I have over 12000. So it does not affect me being able to use run my layouts but it does stop me doing any editing to these items. I hope this explains what has happened. The items are on my new computer but just not showing up in CMP.??

PJ,

You need to import your content back into CMP.

--- Make sure that Trainz and CMP are working properly before doing this.

--- Start CMP

--- Go to File menu

--- Go to Import

--- Browse your new hard drive for the Auran folder, or where ever you copied your content to.

--- Find the local folder and click open.

--- Go have lunch, dinner, or go to bed as your content is imported as this process takes awhile.

You may receive a message that says that some content couldn't be imported because it's built-in. Close the message because it's okay.

While in CMP, now open the Open for Edit tab.
You content will be listed there.

--- Press Ctrl+A on your keyboard (The control key and A at the same time) to select all the content.

--- When everything turns dark, meaning it has been selected, Press Ctrl+M (Control and the M at the same time) to commit the data to CMP.

--- Go have lunch, dinner or nap until this is done, depending on the amount of items imported.

Good luck and I'm sure I may have missed something here because I'm doing this from memory while at work.

And if after that it still doesn't show, find the file assets.tdx in your TRS2006 directory, select it and hit delete. Next time you launch CMP this will force it to rebuild the database and find all of the items you have installed.

Cheers,

JB

thanks guys, i sorted it, i copied the local folder to the new auran folder replacing the one with only start up items, it took about 25mins to download but now all is ok. thanks again
