Loosing history....

Well, that is a shame. At least they did look at trying to save it, but it's a bit confusing when the author explains why it could not be done. More than likely it would have cost too much...:(

Maybe it should be moved back to it's original town, which is 10 miles from the river. :( Grrr People do the darnedest things. I am all for saving old depots but relocating a train depot to a flood zone. Good grief

Yes, I agree. Sometimes though old buildings that aren't protected are fated to be demolished unless someone...anyone moves them. I don't know the circumstances about this particular building, but it's safe to say that old train related structures are not important to some...

"MO" Tower in Cresson was being preped for relocation ... but it began to collapse, and had to be buldozed.

"Alto" Tower is said to be relocated a short distance to the Altoona RR Memorial Museum grounds, but inspectors say that it is barely standing where it is ... It too may not survive.

"MG" & "AR" Towers may be next for demolishion.

"SO" Tower burnt down, and "C" Tower was demolished, as was "Rockville" Tower.
