For item 1:

Sodor Workshops current website
SI3D Model Dump Directory on Internet Archive - torrent file is 5th file from the end of the listing

To resolve any missing dependencies for these you will need to get onto some of the more active discord servers such as that for Sudrian Industries

Be aware that the vast majority of routes on these sites are effectively dioramas for making videos of Thomas related characters. There are a few major projects attempting to be actually usable routes trying to provide the entirety of Sodor Island.

Some of these are:
The Island of Sodor West Side (Phase 1)
The Hybrid IOS (Beta 6.5) & Freelance & RWS Island of Sodor (Beta 1)
There are dumps of the dependencies for these on Internet Archive. Ask me or search/ask on the discord servers of these sites for more info if you want pointers to those.

Why's it a Torrent file? How do I get it into Trainz?

Why's it a Torrent file? How do I get it into Trainz?

Torrent files do not contain regular files; they contain metadata about the files and folders to be distributed. Specifically, torrent files (with the .torrent extension) serve as a roadmap for BitTorrent clients, guiding them to find and download the pieces of a larger file from other users. They include essential information such as the file's name, size, and the locations of the pieces, but do not contain the actual data itself.

To get what is in torrent files, follow these steps:
  1. Download a Torrent Client: First, install a torrent client like uTorrent, BitTorrent, or qBittorrent on your computer.

  2. Add the Torrent File: Open the torrent client and drag & drop your torrent file into the application or use the "Add" option to select the file.

  3. Start the Download: The torrent client will connect to peers and start downloading the files associated with the torrent.

It should end up with the file(s) downloaded that were in the torrent.

Because that is one of the ways that Internet Archive distributes large data sets. If you visited the link I sent you would see the files are individually listed in a directory structure that you can grab from piecemeal or there is additionally a torrent file that allows you to retrieve the whole 3.2GB collection in one go.

Oh, okay. Thanks. Which TORRENT app do you recommend?

I use qBittorrent which is available here . Current version is v5.1.0 .

If you have an over-zealous ISP you might want to use a VPN to avoid your ISP rate limiting your traffic.

Internet Archive will usually go as fast as your download will carry. I usually peak at around 13MB/s on a 100Mbps link.

Once you have the download completed, don't forget to tell qBittorrent to stop offering it out unless you want it to.
