Looking for some Aussie loco's...

Rebuilding 'Outback Oz'
Just wondering if any of the stuff listed below is available for download, or purchase (if the quality is good enough).

ARG 3100 (ex WAGR L Class)
ARG CLP/CLF (ex AN/CR CL-P/F)
Tuscan 49 Class (or reskin for colhad's 49)
Manildra Group MGFH Hoppers (Flour)

and any 422 and 421 Class loco's. (note that most 421's on thew DLS are just 42/S/GM reskins. - Or at least the ones I've found have been.)

I can't find any available, but I am fairly new to the Trainz community and don't know of many of site Australian content.

Thanks,
Jamez.

I am working on a CLP/CLF loco on and off at the moment, possibly in a Genesee+Wyoming livery and also the old ANR green/gold one. One of these is stationed here in Alice Springs for the Alice Springs to Darwin Ghan run as a second unit and I have heaps of pictures of her. At present only a NR Class alone is doing the Adelaide to Alice Springs Ghan service, when the CLP/F 16 (I think) gets hooked on from AS to Darwin and unhooked on the return in Alice Springs again.

It might take some weeks/months to finish it as I will have 3 weeks holidays down South shortly.

Cheers

That's interesting. As I was recently on the Ghan, being hauled by an AN and an NR, both in Ghan colours.

How long has it been single headed?

perhaps this thread needs to be moved to a more appropriate forum, it's hasn't really got anything to do with trainz community events.

cheers

Sorry, I missed this post. The AN3 in Ghan colours has been retired to do southern freight work only since August 07, the AN1 (orange/grey) was her replacement but has had battery problems on and off and has been replaced by the above CLF/CLP locos as a secondary unit only to be used on the AS to Darwin run (and return). My guess is the strech from Adelaide to Alice Springs is relatively flat, hence 1 unit (usually an NR Class including NR Sandfly II/75 is presently one of the NRs doing regular Ghan work). Occasionally one will see 2 locos heading down south from Alice, the second unit is either not working and needs repairs down south or is powered off. (As told by some AS station staff).

As all the old Australian Nationals/National Rail etc. locomotives are leased from FreightLink, Genesee Whyoming or wherever to Great Southern Railway (Ghan/Indian Pacific/Overland operator) and as locomotives in Australia at this point in time are in very short supply, one can see a multitude of different older Oz locomotives including the old GMs, CLFs, CLPs, ALF Class, DC Class etc. operating on the Ghan freight run. Freight traffic on it often has mix of 4 units or sometimes more pulling 100 plus container loaded flatbeds and/or tankers in one consist up and down the line. Which makes for an impressive sight when watching these going past.

Recently, a brand new VL Class in blue CFCLA paint went up to Darwin to be delivered to a mining company nearby for ore carrying duties. I missed this loco for picture taking, which was here parked for a little while until moving on up to Darwin.

FYI

The reason for the 2 units between Alice Sprins and Darwin is the fact there is a 2 loco rule incase one breaks-down:p

The IP usually gets hauled from Sydney over the Blue Mountains with one loco:D

CLP/CLF Class locomotive.

Hi

This mainly for VinnyBarb. I just wanted to ask, when will these locomotives be finished? I am in need of a decent locomotive or two. ]

Sorry, I missed this post. At the moment I am flat out to get my TRS04 created AN Class diesels into TS09/10. Meaning, I am reworking these with normal maps, very detailed features, 5 LODs, new bogeys etc. As I do not like to release shoddy, bad looking or inaccurate stuff, it takes a lot of time to do these. Polygon limitations are another thing, which is getting critical for me. Atm I am on about 40k polygons for the first LOD, which I guess I can keep and switch to the 2nd LOD as soon as possible.

God only knows when I will get time for continuation of the CLP/CLF Class diesels as I am snowed under with lots of WiP stuff. Really, I do not want to place a time line on finishing the CLP/CLF Classes. I guess my answer has to be an "AURAN' soon (tm), meaning, whenever in the future :hehe:.

CLF/CLP and AN classes

Hi

I have downloaded ur AN classes. They are great. But i have found a glitch that you might know. There are some ditchlights floating above the cab. It looks strange. How can i fix this problem?

Cheers

The ARG (ex Westrail/WAGR) 3100/L class is available on the DLS, originally designed for Trainz 1.3 but it will run in later versions.

Here is the kuid: KUID: 58377:22 (it requires engine intakes which are separate content: KUID: 58377:23 )

Note that the loco is the very first ARG livery, of dark orange with thick black lines and the ARG logo written as 'Australian Western Railroad', which ARG's WA division was known as for a short period after they purchased Westrail's freight division from the WA government.

EDIT: Stupid me didn't notice this thread originated in 2007. *smacks head* :p
