Hi
Under "undec Alco S2 N8PHU modded" you have a certain Kuid:520526:1395. That is all that is holding me up.
What may that be????
Thanks

Those are the bogies, which are essential for the locomotive to show up. Unfortunately, it looks like the bogies are not found anywhere and even that Russian site doesn't have a working link for them. So, the locomotive is essentially broken and useless unless you can find other bogies and replace the kuid in the config at three places. Just use bogies from a different Alco S2. Hopefully the attachment points line up otherwise you will have to clone the bogies and use the position tag to move them up or down to sit on the rails. You could also try pming PWeiser.

All I can suggest is

NH Class DEY-1 Blunt Bogey V29 [Detailed]
TS2009
Created by:
PWeiser
File Size: 133.25 kb
KUID: <KUID:520526:1408>
Date: 1st Sep 2011

I unfortunately lost my local Trainz database in early 2021 and that KUID has been overwritten - so I don't know what 1395 was. However, at that time I was posting assets to TrainzProRoutes in TS2004 or TS2006 with their TS2009 equivalents to DLS suffixed "V29" - so this might be it. If I knew for sure, I could recreate the asset with a different KUID: I have the source files. But try 1408 from DLS and see if it fits.

Edit: Another possibility is

NH Class DEY-1 Blunt Bogey V29 [Detailed]

KUID: <KUID:473973:1270>

which has identical thumbnail and unaltered config remarks but double the file size - reskinned?

Since this is on the "white pages" DLS, you can download it using an FTP client or Microsoft Edge IE-mode. You need to go into your default browser settings and enable IE-compatibility for the DLS. This is now enabled for 30-days.

The download will be the kuid with spaces with a .cdp extension like this.
KUID 473973 1270.cdp

Make sure to read the section of a download page for the item:
Using a FTP Client:
Below are the settings you will need to set to connect to our FTP server.
FTP Host Address: files.auran.com
FTP site connect port: 21

username
password

Note: Both your FTP Username and Password are case-sensitive and should be entered in as shown above.

By using the FTP Location of the file you can use the get function of your FTP client to receive the download file.

I am sure this has been explained before, but why is there content that has to be downloaded from the white pages instead of showing up in CM? Why can't options be set in CM to show these files? It's like someone has to have "arcane" knowledge to know how to access parts of Trainz that should be generally accessible.

In the present case, it's the old bugbear of someone posting a traincar asset which calls for dependencies which were, at that time, available on an external site (TrainzProRoutes). I don't know if today's DLS verification checks for that. (Then the external site shuts down, as TPR did.) The problem wouldn't arise if all versions were admitted to DLS, except that it still would because no one can keep content from being hosted externally. Or force the external servers to reman available eternally! The issue of including payware dependencies with freeware DLS traincars is a subset.

It's a hobby; there are challenges.

But this is a problem when you have DLS assets that won't work without a dependency that is no longer available. Then the downloader has to hunt for a suitable replacement and hope it works.

The price we pay for a truly open (virtual) world. The alternative is a closed game which only runs assets (including routes) approved and cataloged by a central authority. Multiplayer Trainz for one user would be an approximation (but it has a good reason for being that way).

You should use bogies that are on the DLS or make your own and upload them to the DLS. Not one from a third party site that could vanish. Your Alco S2 on the DLS is broken because it requires a bogey that can't be found.
