Looking for a user-friendly layout

Hello.
I'm rather new to Trainz and I'm looking for a nice scenic layout that has a lot of industry but not a lot of confusing track crossovers to work my way through, and where I don't have to drive too many miles between towns or industries. Gorgeous scenery would also be a plus. Any suggestions out there? Thanks.

I have just the layout for you. It's small with plenty of work for the railroad crew to do. I'm going to try and upload it this weekend.

Hello LennieL, I would personally suggest you try any of the standard guage routes created by PhilSkene on kuid 69871, he has quite a few on the DLS, generally the same technique, but, he has expanded a few layouts to give longer runs with loads and loads of industries and switching possibilities. They are all faves with many Trainzers around the world, and although Phil would probably agree that they aren't fantastically, stunningly gorgeous scenery-wise, they are very computer friendly, everything required is on the DLS, and offer practicality, realism and VERY user-friendly.
Phil's routes are the benchmark of what Trainz is all about, it's a great start for any newbie, and as you get into the game more, you can download many more layouts from the DLS, from other creators. I'm sure you will get lots more suggestions, but, you haven't told us what version of Trainz you have, which does help as to what ideas we can offer you.
I would also suggest you having a look in the screenshot threads for the USA, Europe and the UK as to what is on offer, you can pick up some tips and generally see who creates layouts that may be of interest to you.

Happy Trainzing.

Well, I'd have to agree with ex-railwayman...
Any of "PhilSkene" routes are great routes to cut your teeth on... His routes are designed for mid range PC's, with plenty of detail & as a bonus, lots of great sessions......
There are dozens & dozens of great routes on the DLS, and his routes are some of the great ones. I'd recommend any of his routes for newbie's to start with...
I've personally enjoyed all of his routes, particurlarly some of his classic's like; Austral 5a & Industrial Rail 8a, etc, etc... (he has some newer routes like P0 & N which are also great routes)...
For newbies, if you really want to see what this chap has uploaded for the community, do a search on the DLS for; Philskene (username)

http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php (and type in Philskene in the username & put 'Layout' in the Category option!!!!!!)

He's just another modest great contributor to the 'at large' Trainz's community, (like many, many other's)...
Good route hunting...
Cheers, Mac... ;)

Completely agree with the comments about PhilSkene's routes. I particularly like the Port Ogden and Northern route but it may be longer and a little more complex than you're looking now. Keep it in mind though. Another layout I've had a lot of enjoyment with is the Midwest Central route. You can find it on the download station under Midwest or by searching for the creator's user name "crb001".

Thanks for all the suggestions. I found another layout that really has what I want but I am having a problem with it. The layout is the Gloucester Bay Terminal by gfisher. Everytime I try to run this layout it mentions an error with the MSVCR80.dll file and then closes Trainz if I hit either of the two choices - Continue or Terminate. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Thanks.

I am running TRAINZ 2009 on a 2.20 GHz system with 2 GB of RAM and a 256 MB video card (NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT).
