looking for a nice long usa route...

Cumberland to Connellsville

You might want to take a look at Cumberland to Connellsville. It's about 100 miles long, and runs through Maryland and Pennsylvania. You'll find it here: http://trainzresources.com/directory/index.php?main_page=product_book_info&cPath=2_3&products_id=813

regards, Joe
Joe, I d/l'd this route today, and I just took a look at it in CMP, and it says it's missing a TON of dependencies, with 195 available on DLS, but another 136 unknown. That sounds like a lot of Googling and a ton of time to try to find all of these. Or are they hidden elsewhere?

Cumberlad-Connelsville

Yes there are alot of missing dependencies. Which brings up the big question: Where can we find the updates for the assets that say "Update Available". Most of the missing assets say that there is an update available.

However I drove an A23 Jetsled at 697 mph over the entire route, and the scenery was almost like being there. I suppose that the missing assets that can never be found could be: "Delete All Missing Assets", and replaced by end users with their own DLS assets... ie Missing: Gantries, Roads, Bridges...etc.

What is there, is quite alot...and it looks almost fabulous indeed, 3 1/2 stars in my book. The curves look great and most of the trackage is smooth as glass and straightened. Now to find the missing dependencies...and it will then be a top notch route !

INCOMMING BULLITIN: If an asset is missing, or says "Update Available"...highlight just the "missing dependencies", and "Updates Available", drag them to the download box...re-download them...exit Trainz, restart DLS, ...and wah lah...they have been updated and are now downloading for you !

I feel like such a dummie...you learn something new everyday...took me 2 years to discover this !

Edit:

So, Nomen built this route? There is nothing under "ogden" on the DLS, and it seems too small. Still haven't finished downloading.

Make sure your search of the DLS includes TRS2004.

Willpac & Cascaderailroad,

With the exception of the Ridgeway station, and the Hog textures, all of the dependencies are on the DLS.

You'll find links to the Ridgeway station and the Hog textures here:http://trainzresources.com/directory/index.php?main_page=product_book_info&cPath=2_3&products_id=813

Thanks for downloading the route. I hope you enjoy it.

Regards, Joe

Joe, your route is very attractive and as you indicate it works in 2009. Only one thing I find annoying, the water texture is messed up with un-sightly graphic effects. I'm new to 2009, any ideas on what might be causing this and a possible solution?

UPDATE:
Can answer my own question, just turned off anti-aliasing and it displays as intended :0

With all these huge routes...something has just struck me...if you start two AI trains at opposite ends of a large route, you can only see one train at a time. And contolling them is a nightmare, shifting back and forth to map mode, to jump onboard the next train. Wouldn't it be nice if you could watch 2 trainz on the same route, using 2 monitors. Or have multiplayer where several other freinds could each control a train of their own. When you select a train, and watch it in tracking mode...all of the other trains are unseen, even though they are passing by cameras along the route.

Multiple view feature

Yeah, I agree. A multiple screen view would be cool. Have you single monitor divide into two screens -top and bottom like xbox racing games. hmm, could split keyboard and have two friends play simultaneously?

Have the screen split into quadrants and watch four trains or four locations.

Picture in Picture. have a small adjustable/moveable window in a corner following some other action.

Would also come in handy for multiplayer when your team or friend is on the net.
