Look, Listen, LIVE!!!!

Maybe us Canadians could learn something from the Germans. After all, there are thousands of trains in Germany every day and it's very rare that anyone gets hit.
In Nova Scotia about a year ago we had no less than TWO collisions in a day. One was on the CBNS (Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia) and one was on the VIA Rail Ocean between Truro & Halifax. This is REALLY troublesome because there are only maybe five trains a day at the most. :(
I, as a avid train buff, would never, never run the crossing. As far as I know, it's illegal in Canada.
I think that train safety is somewhat like bicycle safety: the more trains, the fewer collisions.

you know what, now that I think about it,maybe the punishment for such idiotic actions are not severe enough to make the people think twice before racing a train to the crossing,it does not matter if it is a steam, diesel and a electric locomotive that is running, the fact of the matter is, these are trains and they do kill people, take the one that one poster had stated that happened on a tourist railway in england, that was 15'inch gauge for example, what happened you ask,two people who are not going to be named tried to beat the train, one died and the other suffered injuries!

If I was the Prime Minister of Canada, I would make the fines for racing the crossing larger. This might make people think twice about racin' the train.

Unfortunately innocent parties are victims of these idiots too. Ten school children are no longer with us as a result of a taxi driver trying to beat a commuter train in Cape Town.

That's so sad. I'm afraid that no matter what we do, there'll always be those crazy lunatics that run the crossing. Collisions are especially bad when innocent people or bystanders get killed.
