Cheers for that Mr.Jingles, will give it a go.I don't think that it is possible to save a loaded consist, but as a workaround you could send that empty train you are spawning to a portal which is loading all trains it receives.
That's the way I'm doing it, just place 3 portals (2 of these portals are on a long "off-side" stretch of the map, as they have no other function but getting the train loaded).
Portal 1 : Off-Side Entry
Portal 2 : Off-Side Exit
Portal 3 : Main Map Entry
If you need an empty train, call in a train to Portal 3, if you need a loaded train, call in a train to Portal 1 with a Drive-To command to Portal 2.
Portal 2 has to be configured to "Receive Trains", "Load Received Trains" and "Send Train to Portal 3".
The only downside of this is that the wagons will automatically will be loaded with the as number 1 configured product, so if a tanker has "oil", "diesel", "kerosine" defined in that order the portal will load all with "oil".
That's it.

Cheers Bob.You might also consider this script InstantLoadLocos,<kuid2:117290:1022:1>
Instantly load all locos in a train - useful for trains generated automatically by portals etc. All locos with product queues (eg Phil_C's diesels) and all tenders will have all available queues loaded

Mr. Jingles is it possible to provide on train exiting portal 3 a Drive-To command to another destination? At present train exits portal 3 then stops with no more orders. Just wondered if there was a way to predefine all orders from say portal 1 or portal 2.I don't think that it is possible to save a loaded consist, but as a workaround you could send that empty train you are spawning to a portal which is loading all trains it receives.

Will look into this rule, Thanks Mr.Jingles. Without using the "Emit Train Now" rule was having same problems with AI as you have experienced.Yes, I am using the rule "Emit Train Now", so I can call in any train with any orders at any time while being in driver.
Usually if I see that my coal power plant needs some coal I call in a Coal Train, send him to a loading portal and then into a siding of one of the yards where he would drop off the wagons and proceed off the map.
Then I can unload the full coal wagons at the power plant.
When I'm done I call in a single loco, let it couple up with the empties and get them off the map.
Very cool and incredibly useful gameplay element, this Rule.
Strangely, when I give AI trains orders without using that rule, as soon as the AI train leaves the first portal he suddenly loses all his orders I gave him and just stops after the portal (which maybe is the problem you are experiencing).
That not enough, also the driver that was on board of the train suddenly disappeared.
