Level crossing, any better than this?

The top xing is one of the nice crossings by Bnsf50 (kuid2:39134:101144:2) and the other one is kuid2:506208:100104:1 by Streadway.
Observe the stop lights, one set is on the road and the other one is on the sidewalk,

which one would be more prototypical? it seems to me that the lower one is better, which one do you prefer?
or is it I am doing something wrong?

Look to me like you're using the wrong size road (too wide) for the crossings you chose.

Always make my own crossings with ATLS then I get what I want.

Make your own using the tons and tons of different barriers/lights by Bnsf50. It's no harder
