Let us have a moment of silence please

Dear All,

It has been 9 years ago today that terrorists attacked the United States of America in New York, Washington DC, and a Pennsylvaina field and that 2996 people were killed. Let us take a brief moment of silence to remeber the victims and their families.

Thank you.
Let us also not forget those who left for heaven on the 7th of July 2005 in the London bombings.

911 was a terrible day that I remember following via the BBC website. A shocking human tragedy.

Complex issues have no easy solutions.

Terrorism has a long history. During the three preceding decades, the British government was well aware of the the threat of the Provisional IRA. Despite that awareness and using the apparatus of the British and friendly security services there was a long list of incidents.

Fortunately none of them was to the degree the 9/11 and 7/7 bombings were.

What happened here regarding Irish linked terrorism in GB is not of course similar to 9/11 but it is well in excesss of the 7/7 tragedy obviously so cannot see how that comparison was weakened? The terrorists killed numbers well into 4 figures and many, many were innocents with no respect of who they were including women (sometimes targetted) and children. Infrastructure and damage to communtiy adhesion was immense as well. So feel that has to be stated in contradiction of the comment.
