Large US Terminal

** Fire Department**
I am looking for a large, prototypical US terminal station (particularly an end of the line terminal like Chicago, Washington D.C., or Boston) since this is all my route for TS12 needs. Can anyone help? ALL help is appriciated! Thanks in advance!

I made a freelance one called Mass Transit Complex 1. If I remember right (its been a while) it has 12 stub tracks and 6 thru tracks. Platforms are separate and must be positioned. Info in a README file in the folder on how to set it up. However its for 2004. Don't know if 2012 would take it.

Schematics?

Armstrong has schematics for half a dozen of the big ones in "Track Planning for Realistic Operation" at a high level of abstraction, mainly how they're laid out (loop, wye, thru, tee and sometimes where the coach yard is located, with emphasis on which roads interchange with which others). Would that help?

It would but I can't find it anywhere. I'm mostly looking for the terminal building for the trains, not so much the building and track work, because I already have track "planned." I just need the platforms and I'll have a route out.

A suggestion

There are several operational terminal stations on the DLS. But if you are not so much concerned about the buildings, I say scratch build it yourself using AJS invisible stations (there are up to either 6 and 8 track versions either built in or on the DLS).

As long as you extend track beyond the midpoint so trainz can fit and unload/load properly, and also install track-end bumper track objects, combined with platforms, platform roofs, including barrel-vault roofs on the DLS, you can get exactly what you want. You will have much more flexibility than using someone else's vision, which may not be bad but doesn't meet your needs.

Its on the DLS as 2004 content. Be sure to read the readme file in the folder. There are also 2 screenshots in the folder showing how its supposed to look when assembled.

Available Station Layouts

Just stumbled upon some really excellent passenger terminal layout drawings, though not quite the size you were interested in. See, for example the "16 Drawings" clicker at

(sorry, temporary link expired. go to http://memory.loc.gov (Library of Congress) and use the search string, then choose the "PRR Harrisburg" record)

http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query...,spaldingbib,sgproto,scsmbib,afccalbib,mamcolThere are a number of other small and medium-sized terminals, engine facilities, etc. in this collection - I used the search string "railroad station drawing" . The Cos Cob powerhouse is in there, too:udrool:.

Most stations I build (especially the terminals) are kit-bashed. some favorite pieces of mine come from Magicland's terminal kit, FMA, gfisher, etc. There are a lot of really nice bits & pieces for stations out there that can let you make some really impressive stations.
