LACMTA Trainz Project

Thanks for the photos, I just been gone to get some rest, for some reason I have been tired for the past couple days, but I am okay now so I will continue work on the project.

good thing too. I've just got back from Anahiem via/Metrolink & Amtrak. Hopefully u shall be done with the exterior.

Thanks for those, I think I'ma make some textures instead. BTW, I haven't bounced yet, I had some computer problems recently, but now everything is going smoothly, the project is on hold for a few days due to school and a few other things going on right now but don't fret, the project is still going strong.

I have some questions that I want to ask, and the question is, that did you know that LACMTA is going to retire the Nippon-Sharyo P865 LRVs and P2020 LRVs and replacing them with the new LRVs which they are called the Kinkisharyo P3010 LRV?

how is that possible?!?!?! is there a link to the article?

Sorry I haven't been around for a bit, my computer has been a mess and I had to restore it meaning that I need to reinstall my Google Sketch Up and 3ds Max, right now I am going to reinstall it and continue with it since I am on break, ps. I heard about what the outcome of the Sharyo Cars are as well, sad to hear they only have a few more years of service, they were the first trains I rode when I was a kid.

well, welcome back! I saw as well. but they are not COMPLETELY gone. I think that they are moving to the Expo Line as a test train. I saw a video on that. and PS. Why do u need to use 3ds max along with Sketchup? you can use the RubyTMIX plugin to export the body itself, and use 3DS max to use as the animated doors.

Good point, but save the animation for later, hopefully if u restored the file, u should be able to finish it all in one piece.

Hello folks, so I have recently decided to tackle a major Trainz project that includes the city of Los Angeles. I am taking up the project and designing Rolling Stock of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and I am doing it in chronological order of each train line that opened. So first I am going into the late 80s and early 90s and designing the Nippon Sharyo Sumitomo P865 1989-90 order that delivered the first 53 cars for the Metro Blue Line. I have progress shots of the car from when the project first started to now.

I am very proud of this since it is my first Sketch Up and soon to be 3ds max project, comment and let me know what you guys think.

I have a question. DOES anybody know how to use google sketchup to make stations and subway trains. Can Someone please help me out here?!

So I have news, i just recently installed the newest version of 3ds Max. i was asked previously why not just use Sketch Up alone, well here is why I wanted to test it out.

I must say I am impressed with it, and I am definitely using it to completing the project, are there any sketch up users/3ds max users. i am having a bit of a problem with the alignment of the cab portion to the rest of the car.

Good show ol' man! Well, I'm quite good at sketchup, but ALMOST BUT BARELY good at 3ds max. Maybe a friend of mine, ivantr, can show you the way around.

Well, I will give you guys two more tonight, I must say, each small thing done to it is making it look like the real thing, I can hear the bell, horns, the door chimes and electric relay already, mikey, can I hear some of the P865 sounds, I think I wanna find a good 90s one with the old horn the train use to have.

Right! i'll see what i can find. I found some videos from users that been on the blue line in the 90's. The princess and I will see what we can do! Fortunately, the bells are the same.

Well, as time goes on, I'am really beginning to like this project, I am glad i decided to construct the main car itself and use max to finish it off, but each time I make progress I import it into 3ds max. If anyone is good in sketchup, there is a big question and possible favor I would like to ask, PM me if you can. But here are a few shots:
