Ok, now I know that anyone who reads the title to this thread must be thinking, "Is this guy insane?" Well I probably am considering that the Bingham copper mine that this railway runs is one of the largest machine made excavations on earth :o. I am trying to aim for the 1970-1978 Time frame when the open pit mine used small electrics to haul copper from the pit. The route itself is MASSIVE, but oh well.

So far I've added most of the overhead wire and all of the track inside the main pit.

This should be fun ;)

Cool i'll be keeping an eye on this one as i made a DEM for the Route from the mine to where the ore is dumped at the smelter, And skinned a loco for it and all. Hope you take it further then i did.lol.
Cheers Mick.

Thanks mick, I will try to take this one as far as I can, maybe even create some electric locos for the route if I get far enough. :udrool:

Added a ton more track. Adding the wire is the hard part.

What a great idea for a project! I would probably strip out all your hard fought wiring and use a small diesel instead, but even so I understand you're going for a particular time frame. I'll be watching this thread, and good luck!

I found out a wayto replace the HOG Textures for track in TS12 that is. Go to the replace asset, select the HOG texture, and select the one you want to replace it.;)

YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you plan to do the MASSIVE locomotives too? I have been in the cab of one because the WRM has three, they are indeed massive. They did have a SD7, if someone can find me pictures I can make it.
Can't Wait To See This!

If the route does indeed get far enough, then I may model up the "juice packs" the battery run locomotives, and the pit electrics (which have very weird pantographs.) As shown here.

Simple do a search. I just found a pic, no I am not posting a link. You learn more by looking yourself.

The reason for the pan like that is for loading. They are designed to swing out for operation where the wire is off to the side for loading areas and a pan in the center of the cab for elsewhere with the wire over the track. The smaller one we have has one centered pan and two of these swinging pans on opposing corners (you look carefully and you can see the second one on 700 and732.)

Big size difference between 700 and 771 or the battery equipped verses the non equipped.

Interesting, I will have to keep that in mind for when I have to set up the temporary catenary.

I made a small electrical box made from a pic I saw from the pit.

So far I've gotten a basic idea on how rocky areas will be textured

Thanks!

I am in the process of preparing to export this signal for use on the route. But I need to know what the name is for the attachment points for the coronas first.
