Kansas City Southern Routes

Evening all,

I am planning/in the works KCS New Orleans Sub. it runs from Latania, La to New Orleans, La. It is a massive under taking. What i want to know is what if any KCS routes exist? I know of the Hillman sub on the DLS. It is very nicely done. I do not want to step on any toes here. I do not want to create a route if it is done. My plan is to start in New Orleans, La. at West Yard (KCS)and mainly model the NOPB(USA only City owned railway)--New Orleans Public Belt. Then move north over time.

i may over time model Avondale yard(BNSF) and Mays(??) Yard NS. There is a ton of track in New orleans you could model for months and months.

So, let me know who is doing or planning on doing what maybe we can combine efforts

Thanks,

Hi KCS_Guru,

Glad to find another KCS fan on here! I'm a life-long KCS fan, having been born and raised in Pittsburg, KS. I also lived in Shreveport for about 10 years.

I was actually thinking about trying to start working on a KCS route from the north end. I'm quite new to Trainz, so it seems a very daunting task to me right now. I'm considering getting TransDEM, so I could start with accurate topography. OK...so there isn't a whole lot of topography up there, but there are a few grades in and around Kansas City.

I'd be interested in working on any KCS route with you...keeping in mind that I'm a total novice.

Wedgef5,

Sounds good.

I am laying out West Yard really soon. I just got all the topography figured out. I plan on purchasing TrainzDEM also, maybe if you work out the north end we can meet in the middle one day lol. Drive the golden spike. I figure by trainz 2035(year) we might be done. HAHA

It is a major undertaking. Maybe we could get a group of like minded KCS lovers to build on one of the KCS Subs. I got the Louisiana Southern DEM file. Which is the old Winnfield Sub on KCS. Leased to Watco Industries in 2005. Watco is an interesting company.
