Just got 2010 and want Layouts - help

I see on download station there are several layouts I can download. BUT, I'm worried about that dependencies thing. I imagine many of these layouts will have and need optional content/assets that I don't have. Is there any way to download layouts that will look good on a stock Trainz 2010 install?

Also, is there some required 2010 patch I need to install?

I thank you for your recommendations.

Just about all routes, you will need to Google kuids, and track down missing dependencies, and download 3rd party assets ... fortunately, people on the forum are here willing to help ... and if you PM them, it is a great way to get information on how to fix Trainz.

Do a search for any routes by philskene. His only use dependencies that are on the dls. Great routes to run also.

I strongly recommend his Harbor Master Route (2010 built-in). It includes some great sessions as well. On a middle of the pack machine running WIN7 Ultimate (32 bit), and a nVidia GT430 graphics card, I consistently get FPS in the 50-75 range and sometimes higher. That is with 5 AI trains running at the same time at 10 minute intervals (emitted from portal B) plus a user controlled local trying to make pickups and deliveries. Thanks Phil, great route and track plan.

Not on the DLS but Dermmy has the EK3 on his site at Checkrail and several others. He also has listings with links to all content not on the DLS needed. Just follow the links and you shouldn't have any problems.
Just a thought.

Dave......

Dermmy has issues at the moment and has most likely pulled the plug on EK3 and other routes until he can get a new host. There is a post on the subject.

I think your information is out-of-date. I just checked and Checkrail is up and the routes are available.

Pretty certain it was friday night he was talking about removing EK3 and any others that needed dependancies from this particular website at the (last) weekend. The post is "Request for a few items.....

Wow - you got that wrong!

There is no issue at Checkrail with any route nor is there an issue with my hosting.

The issue discussed in that thread relates to dependencies for most of my sessions which have gone missing with the demise of WestCoastTrainz. In short, pretty much every session I have ever done is busted, but the routes themselves are good to go.

The only reference to 'Hosting' in that thread was my offer to WCT to pick up the total cost of WCT hosting to keep the site open and keep what was some of the best freeware content ever made for Trainz available to the community.

Apart from that there aint nuffink rong at checkrail!

@ the OP: All of my routes require 3rd party content, but every route comes with links to every piece of 'missing' content. Getting the stuff is not exactly painless, but it is as easy as I can make it. If you like Eastern coal roads I would suggest either version of EK3 for TS10. All of my other routes are old TRS04 stuff and frankly just aren't up to par with the potential of the new sim...

Andy ;)
