Hi, as the title states I have just brought trainz 2010. There are over 30000 out of date assets. Is this normal? Or is there something going on here?

Normal. The assets are created by members as third parties and uploaded to the DLS. 2010 has mucho content, some dating back to the beginnings of Trainz. When those assets are updated, the new asset is uploaded to the DLS and obsoletes the old content. Content Manager sees this as an updated asset and wants you to download it to replace the original.
To me at least, that does seem unusual - my version of 2010 only says there's about 7000 updated items available, and I'm running a lot of old content from Trainz 1.3/04 imported into it as well that is faulty or out of date which I haven't gotten around to updating yet.
All I can think of is maybe because it seems you haven't registered your copy with Auran yet, Trainz might be throwing up false information when it tries to log itself into Planet Auran behind the scenes when you load up Trainz 2010 (and can't log in due to no member detail being available).
I recommend that you register your copy of Trainz 2010 with Auran (by clicking on the 'Serial Number' link at the top of this page and following the directions - you'll need the serial number/product key included with your copy), as not only will it probably fix this annoying issue, it will open up full free access to the Download Station (DLS) too for you.
Either way, welcome to the world of Trainz!

Trainz is registered to my other account. I would have thought that they would remake the disks from time to time say once a year update so there is less missing content. But right now, with over 30000 updates this os gonna take ages to update. And I have to answers that both conflict with one another so i guess i'm going to have to keep at it

First off what build dose your larncher have at the right corner?
If it at 49938 then you can click on updates and it will upload all of them, will take some time. You should do this at night just before you go to bed and let it do it while you are sleeping.
I and others will recomand you get a first class ticket (FCT)this will speed up your down loading time. A FCT is about 25.00 for a year and really worth it.

I have a first class ticket and I have updated to the newest build of trainz. content manager is v3.3. How would I update everything at once then? when I click content and launch content manager then got to out of date there is no "update" button?
Using the search function.

r/click select all
r/click view asset versions.
r/click select all.
r/click download.
I'm just doing my 357 and it worked that way.

When I did this at first (with the 30000+) upgrades, The whole thing ran slow and kept crashing, so I guess adding view asset features step will filter down to just what I need? hence making less downloads.
It's the location=local, that gives only the ones you need. My original figure was 27,000+, down to 357.

And after filtering just local content I have 500 and something updates availavle i sellect all and click download but only a few download?

I'm build 49933.
Doing it the way I suggested got mine down to 50 updates, but the majority of these are for 2012 which I haven't got.

It's a wonder why there calling content not locally installed out of date :S seems a little unnessary really. but I am just waiting for it to load the filter and I'll take a look at it

Well, I have been trying to get it to downlad since my last message. But it will only download 5 out of a list of 570 and even then, the 5 items remain in the local out of date list? any ideas?

Ok, Woke up today and all items are up to date. After right click > asset versions there is no rightclick select all, so click on the top item and hold shift and press home, then click view in main list, then right click select all and then right click download.
