Only thing I liked in TRS2006 was the wheels on steam locos when you slip, they actually spin at high speeds unlike the new versions when you need to be at 0kph and full thrust the regulator and the wheels spin slow.... very very slow.... so slow you also get a piston lock.

(Diverting off-topic slightly): I have noticed that in 2010, wheels generally slip a lot more than they did in my TC1&2, which is fair enough and a great improvement to the physics engine, but it's annoying on the BN LRV tram. In TC1&2 I was able to give it full power from 0mph and it'd move, in 2010 I couldn't (which, considering it is a tram, is a bit unrealistic) so I changed the engine file on mine for the TransAdelaide Flexity :hehe:
@Cascade, I'm not sure how to solve this issue but I imagine it is just to do with the baseboard being updated as the years went by

@cascaderailroad, the baseboards are different in TRS04/06, as a few areas on my old a forest test route (which, by the way, is released :hehe
has the 06 baseboard. But some areas have the 2010/2012 Trainz baseboard. I don't know why both version are on my route, but it should be just 2010/2012 baseboard route. I can get some screenshots of where the baseboard is 06 and some of the 2010 baseboard on my route if you'd like.

But in what way are the baseboards different ... And why can't the mapfile from 09, 10, 12 route be backdated ... or have the baseboard grid kuid swapped out, so that a 09, 10, 12 mapfile can be read in TRS2004, & TRS2006.

The scientific difference is actually related to the grid size (both 5m and 10m are available in TS2009+, whereas earlier versions only had the 10m grid) and the layer system (TS2009 SP4/TS2010/TS Mac/TS12).

I believe that is the case because of the 5m grid that was introduced. Something have to have been changed for that to work, so I would think that's why it can't be backdated.

So the 5/10m grid in a 09, 10, 12 route, can not be swapped out with a simple TRS2006 10m grid in the config file ?
And backdating a 09, 10, 12 route to work in TRS2006 is totally impossible, and can not be done by even the most experienced Trainzer ?

It's very difficult if it is indeed possible due to the structural changes in the .gnd file that allow the usage of either grid size.

Is it possible to grab the .gnd file from a 06 route and place it in the route your trying to backdate?

It's unlikely to work, especially if the version it's being backdated from is TS2010/TS Mac/TS12 content.
