juddering imagery

Hi Oh knowledgable ones.

I can't seem to solve the problem of juddering imagery on my Trainz 2006 layout, which is quite detailed. In theory my computer is well up to specs: Asus dual core 1.86 / 3 gig ram / GForce 9600GSO Vid card. The inside is all clean and no dust clogging and all cooling is running. I have tried the game adjustments on the pull down, but it may be that I'm not understanding them. What am I doing wrong here? Any advice much appreciated.

Tks

Some extremely high poly loco's (ie: Joram24 SD-45), combined with lots of adjacent tracks with freight cars on them, along with framerate killing grass...etc...will bring a normal route framerate of 40 FPS, way down to a "juddery" 4 FPS.

I find TRS2006 the least smooth of all versions I have (see above) on my PC (see below). The primary sliders to play with are for draw distance. Do NOT enable shadows. There are other things to fool with but those are the ones that imediatly come to mind.
I sugest you monitor the frames per second (FPS) while viewing a particularly nasty section of the layout using the FRAPS program (www.fraps.com) while changing settings.
