JR Signal Offset? What is it?

Angry Trainz Nerd
Hello Trainzers! Today, when scrolling through the "Track Objects" list in TS12, I came across this strange item called "JR Signal Offset". Curious, I placed it on the track and was greeted with an orange arrow. I moused over the strange object and came across this message:

It appears it looks for the nearest signal and stops the train where the object is placed. I think that would be cool, as I wouldn't be blocking crossings when I'm stopped at a signal (hate doing that). Is that the purpose of this potentially useful device?

Thanks,
Matt

from some previous threads:

signal offsets are signals as well, but they clone the aspect of the next signal onto themselves. useful for signalling yards where a lot of signals on each track are undesirable as well as some operating practices like NS where the signal is beyond the clearance point of a siding yet governs that siding.

where each offset controls that yard track based on signal Y. only the offset that can 'see' that signal will be green, so which ever track is lined to it.

i made it for two things - yard control and a specific situation where one signal is to be used to control a siding.

it is. there is no signal logic in it other than to copy the state of the signal it can 'see' beyond the arrow. if no signal is 'seen' it reports a danger.
