Joystick Support in Trainz

I know this has been discussed before but,

I want to use an alternative method of controlling my Trainz (cab mode). I can't afford Raildriver, so I was thinking about using a joystick. Other people on the forums have said that a joystick wouldn't work by itself, but there is a program out there to bind keys to the buttons on the joystick and make it work. Does anybody know of a model of joystick that would work with this program? And if joysticks won't work at all, is there some other alternative controller besides that, Raildriver, or the keyboard that I could use to control my Trainz?

I have a Saitek X-36 and X-35 throttle which comes with its own programming software, I used that to run MSTS trains before the raildriver was invented.

Hello Erik,

Have a look at this thread http://forums.auran.com/trainz/show...-gamepad-with-Trainz-2009&highlight=belgian46 . I tried joytokey and Xpadder with my logitech Precision UG15 joystick.
With both programs, I was able to use my logitech Precision UG15, but a workaround was necessary ( see post #8 and #10 in the above thread ).
