Joystick in '09?

Is there any way to use a joystick in TS2009? I am not going to pay $170 for a RailDriver when I have a perfectly (maybe...) good joystick that has the right controls for it.

I tried, as an experiment one time, to use my Saitek X-45 with TRS2006 and it worked just fine. Should also work on '09. Just print out your list of Keyboard hotkeys in Trainz, and program your joystick with the commands you want to use.
