Jersey Terminal Rail- WIP

I've never really done much in the way of route building, pretty much just altering others' routes here and there, so I figured I might as well give it a shot. I thought something fictional would be a good place to start so I can't be wrong no matter what I do........

The Jersey Terminal Railroad centers around the fictional cities of Port Jersey to the East and Hudson City to the West, with stops in between as well as Point Kilmer which overlooks the entrance to the seaport. Freight as well as Commuter service will be featured. Right now all I have laid out is the basic seaport area.

I figure I will work on this section for now before heading west. I really don't have a trackplan, I figure a terminal and yard at each end , with the commuter line and some freight branches. I have a lot to learn as far as track laying and signaling, and texturing and everything lse, so all comments and suggestions as I go will be welcome....even snarky ones. TYVM.

BTW this idea is somewhat inspired by Euphod's old "Regional Passenger Transport" route.

Thanks. By "rotating" textures, do you mean rotating the camera as you place them or is there something else?

if you hit the [ or ] keys, it rotates the way the textures are laid down. don't worry, took me ages to figure it out myself :hehe: finally did once I accidentally bumped one of the keys, lol.

In addition to rotating the textures, I also tend to use the smallest size, or close to it, for the diameter of the texturing tool. That also helps to avoid the checkerboard effect.

Thanks for the replies. I usually use the smallest circle as well, I actually wish it coukd be smaller. I did a little practicing with rotating and randomly changing the scale, I see the difference. I had a setback yesterday when all my saves for the route were lost, somehow Trainz copied a different route I was messing with over them, so I'll have to start over. No big deal as I wasn't far in and it gives me the opportunity to rethink the plan a bit.

as bad as this is gonna sound, I'm actually glad that the above happened to someone OTHER than me, for once. Don't worry, if you're anything like me, the second incarnation will be ten times better than the first!

It was the weirdest thing. I was tooling around a different route and I guess it autosaved after 15 minutes. Instead of saving under the name of the route, it overwrote my 3 JTRR saves.
