Jerky Simulations

Many of the route simulations in TS2010 and TS2012 are very jerky which really detracts from the experience of the games. I have shut off shadows and minimized draw distance but those actions were of no value. Does anyone know how to correct this problem?

Hello George and welcome to the Trainz forums.

TS2010 and TS12 take a bit more hardware than the older versions of Trainz to operate well. What are your machine specs. There are things that we can recommend once we have your machine information.

EDIT: Shane we hit the reply button at the same time! Like minds think alike - similar post as well. :)

Integrated graphics and trainz don't mix unfortunately, unless you have a discreet/separate graphics card your going to struggle.
Most laptops are not designed for gaming unless you pay big bucks.

TRS2006 & TRS2004 will operate on low end laptops ... Other versions will perform poorly ... a Desktop RTR will cost @ $800 USD ... You can retrofit a $500 desktop for another $200 - $300

Then you need to get yourself down to your local computer shop George, get the man to fill one of
those slots on the motherboard with a graphics card. :D

The HP Touchsmart IQ524 is an all-in-one pc using mobile technology. It uses chipset graphics (GMA4500 ?), and there are no slots for an upgrade.

To my knowledge, Intel graphics cards are no good for later versions of Trainz. Sometimes, even Content Manager will not launch.

My computer is not a laptop, it is a desk top.

My apologies, it isn't a laptop but neither is it a desktop as such without a tower.
You have a PCIe x16 slot on the mobo but you will have to do some measurements to see if you can get a card to fit.
Also according to the specs you have a 150 watt PSU.
Now the CPU should be a core duo T6400 around 2ghz.
If you can get a card to fit it will have to be a low end card that draws 70 watts max because of the PSU. Your never going to get smooth as silk results but it will improve matters.

A low profile nvidia GT430/1GB may fit. This graphics card draws approximately 30W under full load and runs TRS12 superbly.
