I've uninstalled Windows 8 and gone back to Windows 7.

I'm sticking with (the bloated) Vista on one laptop (beater), and Windows 7 on the desktop that has a fairly good Galaxy GT430 video card ... sticking with IE8, as IE9 has bugs ... Firefox is an alternative ... Bing Toolbar, UNINSTALL it ... and Google Chrome I don't see any reason to even install it ... sticking with 06 for uncomplicated Surveyor, and TS10 for he time being ... I may graduate to TS13 if/when it gets released (or TS12 when the SP1 is tested). And Java, UNINSTALL it !

MS is already working on their next OS, reported to be called Windows Blue.

Maybe they should rebrand Windows 8 as "Broken Windows"?

I sincerely hope that Windows 7 stays available for awhile. The Windows 8 interface seems to be built for a touch screen system and even after 35 years experience in computer support, I find it difficult to navigate. There would be some very unhappy people where I work if they had to use 8...including myself.

I agree, Norm. Where I worked they're just going to Windows 7.

I'm sure Windows 7 will be supported for some time since it's just being adopted by corporations, and as you know companies don't upgrade so fast. Remember too that Windows XP goes out of support next year. That was 14 years in use, so Win7 will probably be the same.

It seems though that the younger generations will have no problems with the new interface. My manager's little 2-year old wizzed around Windows 8 RT like she had done it forever. She knew exactly how to get to her little movies, and even how to skip the advertisements on YouTube!

I don't think it is "bugs" as much as a fatally flawed concept. Tablets and smartphones are one thing, laptops are another and desktop PC's are something else.
I bought an Android TV box, had it for 2 weeks then sold it. Android is great on a phone but sucks on a TV.

Windows 7, according to most experts including Paul Thurrott who probably has forgotten more than most people know about Windows, has has written dozens of books and manuals on it, says Windows 7 will be around for a many , many years. Businesses will probably show little to no interest in Windows 8, and if you don't have a touch screen on your tablet, or PC, Windows 8 has little to offer over 7.

Best bang for the buck in TV boxes, is the Roku, in my opinion. Since I got mine, I have save about $90 in Direct TV bills.

My reason for using Chrome is it is so much faster than Internet Exploder and Firefox. Also Chrome's automatic default for Java is that it will ask your permission to run Java, if a site calls for it when browsing. When I go to a PC that has IE on it now, it is like watching paint dry.

Malwarebytes will get rid of that nonsense. I think Google Images is one of the main sources of Malware.
