It was a dark and stormy afternoon in Belen, New Mexico...........

I decided that since I was driving thru the area, that Belen NM would make a good stopping over spot on my trip back home to the east.

Belen is a division point on the ATSF, a cross roads for traffic from California, El Paso Texas, and the East.....

When I first went out, the afternoon was pleasant...

A couple of FP45s moving an Intermodal east.....

It turned dark, stormy, and oh yeah...lightning....

The SD40-2s are hauling a trailer train, the light in the distance is a grain extra waiting for clearance....

Heres a shot of that grain extra...... ATSF GP35, RI GP38-2, MKT GP40

Rear of that Trailer Train disappearing into the night.....

Grain Extra picking its way around the fueling pad and a Ballast Extra awaiting its turn to leave......

Ballast Extra trying to get underway. It seems the rain has added some extra weight to his train........

Having finished fueling, the East bound intermodal gets underway.....

Standing on the bank, I got off this quick shot before my Ham Radio stopped scanning on the local NOAA weather radio channel ... "The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Belen, New Mexico area....."
Might be time to wrap this up and get some food....
