Issues with Trainz.

Ok, I just finished my very first all-blender made train, and for some reason, it has a floating X over it. Here's a screenshot of it.

Could someone please tell my why there is a floating X over my train?

By looking at the white, broken lines it looks like the track has been deleted at some point by accident whilst you were in Content Manager. If you have downloaded track (from the Download Station) on a saved route / session and then if you accidently delete this installed track in CM, it is replaced in-game by white, broken lines. * Check your CM for any missing dependancies flagging up with your route.

The floating 'X' above the locomotive means that it has derailed, simply because the track is missing.

Nope. That's not the case. If you look behind my engine, you can see another engine, which is not derailed. Besides, I'm still looking for the dependencies for this route. I've had this same floating X issue for some time now. I don't know if it's the way I create the model, or what. I did not attach all the cubes and such in blender because then the texture would have screwed up.

Your track is either faulty or missing a dependency. It looks like other splines are having the same issue as well.

John

I've had the same white, broken lines appear on my game before. All because I had accidently removed the downloaded track from CM by mistake, and thus all the rolling stock ended up derailed (floating X's all over them). The best way to see if the track is faulty or missing is to check this issue in Content Manager, the only way to identify problems in-game and possibly fix them if it allows.

@ Zeldaboy, if you could post up another screenshot from another angle, maybe this will provide us with some further clues as to why you are seeing a few issues...

Andy.

I do not have the track for the TV Series Skarloey Railway installed. I know that the missing track is not the case, because behind my built engine, there are 5 other engines that work perfectly, even with the missing dependency track.

if I were me, I'd try placing your red engine on a different route, which does not have dependency issues. Without being able to see the track you really be certain whether your engine is derailed, or whether there is some other issue, or even if the other engine in the scene is on the track.

Also, because the subject relates to "Thomas" content, you may be better off asking the question in the SI3D forums, as that's the only place "Thomas" models can legally be redistributed. And redistribution may be important her, because in order to determine exactly what's wrong, it may be necessary for you to package the engine into a ~.cdp, and let them look at other aspects of it.

Start with putting the vehicle on a piece of track you DO have downloaded. Any piece of build-in track will do.

Serious; try it. Maybe the comments some people have made actually are true and if not you can make a nice screenshot to show us.

You don't even know what yor saying. Just because it has a face, doesn't mean that the Trainz forums can't help with issues. Besides, I've stated this before, I BUILT THIS ENGINE IN BLENDER, NO SKETCHUP USED. Anyway, I placed it on regular track, and there is still a floating X above it.

Create your own simple route with just a piece of straight track then place your loco on that. You can then be certain whether or not your loco is faulty. I don't think Blender would have created a cross above the loco. Well at least I haven't come across this problem.

I already tested the model on my other test route that I've used before. It's when I try and rotate the train in surveyor or save the route and drive the train is when the floating X appears.

Check the config file kind is correct if Trainz thinks it's not a loco then it may produce an X when placing it on a track. Find somebody else's locomotive config file and compare it to yours.

Ken

I've already done that. Here's what my config is:

Sorry, ZB, but I don't understand where do you think I wrote Sketchup, and I don't mean to suggest that the generally kind netizens (which group, from the tone of your reply, you don't seem to think includes me) hanging out in these forums can't, or won't help you.

BUT the simple matter of fact is that the only place that because of a UK intellectual property issue, the only place Sodor island models can be redistributed is through SI3D website and forums. They can't be distributed in the DLS, and they can't be distributed in these forums. And since there is a reasonable chance that you're going to have to share the ~.cdp file of your locomotive to debut it, these forums are not the best place to get help. My understanding, and I'm not a trained lawyer, so there's a reasonable chance that I'm not quite correct here, is that if you post so much as a link to Sodor Island content on a third party site in a post in these forums the link will be in violation of TOS, and the link will be removed from your post, or your post from the forums. These restrictions do not apply (as far as I know, I've never joined, so never had reason to read the TOS of the SI3D forums) in the SI3D forums. I expect there are kind and knowledgeable people there, too.

You don't understand the Thomas and Friends Trainz fanbase. Many people, not just SI3D, make and release Thomas models for Trainz simulator. SI3D had gotten the full "all-clear" after Mangandy's models were removed. SI3D does some work with HIT Entertaiment as well. You need too learn about this more, and you'll understand that as long as it's freeware, and not on the DLS, is fine to upload.

Your bogie attachments are wrong. :)

Check their rotation; make sure they aren't rotated.

Also make sure that a.bog0 is the front bogie (though invisible in your case), a.bog1 is the rear one (also invisible in your case) and a.bog2 is the driving wheels.

Kieran.

It worked, but now another problem has risin in spite of that. I mapped some texture's to the engine, but, they do not show at all in Trainz. Now what should I do?
