This is a very well known issue despite what the powers that be will tell you. The real truth is, their download servers are that much overloaded at MOST times, anyone connecting and trying to d/load from the DLS is going to get this message sooner or later. I don't think anything is wrong with your setup, why should it be? It was working the way you configured CMP, as you said the first week you were logging on to it.
The sooner N3V comes clean about their bl**dy sorry state of this DLS affair, the sooner you and I and I hazard an educated guess, many others who have similar problems d/loading will stop tearing out their hair, kick the dog, punch their computers, shout at their wives/partner and in general stop looking to fix these CMP/FTP download problems at our end. As the problem is not on our end, it is clearly at N3V's end. Just check the DLS forum and see how many complaints/queries or what have there are posted and imagine how many people have given up d/loading from the DLS and go to other external d/load sites.
I had these ongoing d/load issues for some 12 months now, some of the time these d/loads work, albeit intermittently, I searched Hi and Lo for fixes, nearly tore my PCs apart (YES!!! these same issues are happening on 4 different PCs of mine) to find a cure when ALL of the time the problem is NOT with me, it is with N3V. Just submit a HelpDesk ticket about your problem and see how long you have to wait for an answer and then you probably get a generic reply after many weeks waiting, which most likely blames your configuration.
What baloney, I can see the TadDeamon logging on, OKing and accepting the log on and then most times I just wait and wait and wait when trying to d/load a CDP. If at a rare occasion I finally get a d/load, this stops after a few KBs of d/loads and just sits and sits there without progressing further. Sometimes I can coax in my DL manager of FireFox to stop and restart the d/load, sometimes it does BUT most of the times I get: Can not find/read the file. Yet NO errors are shown in the TadDeamon, only I am getting hotter and hotter under my collar.
Don't let me get started with CMP, like when it can not find a dependency, instead when not finding one and then just skipping this and continuing with d/loading, no, it just sits there doing nothing. Why? It can still d/load the rest and just tell me what it could not d/load so I could chase this up manually myself. But I guess this must be too hard to program/implement or this would have been done already since CM first was hurled at us with TRS06. Now some years later, still the same cr@p only just slightly improved.
Just tell me this (if any of N3V's people are reading this) WHY the blazes does my d/load work some of the time, albeit intermittently with above glitches/issues. My configuration can not be ALL bad or misconfigured as I do get some of the d/loads. I can turn off my Antivirus and firewall software, no bl**dy difference with d/loads, same issues. My d/load speed is usually between 6-8 MBs with other web sites or torrent d/loads but not with the DLS, despite having a "livelong" (haha, what a laugh) FCT, which gets me on a good day some 80 to 100kbs d/load speed from N3V's DLoad servers, sometimes just a trickle of d/load speed and usually baulks when d/loading several CDPs at the same time. We were promised by buying a FCT to d/load up to 5 consequential d/loads (at the same time). Do we get these 5 d/loads at the same time? No siree we don't. I usually get stopped at the second side by side d/load.
Have you ever logged into an EA/Bethesda/Blizzard or any other gaming site and tried to d/load mods, utilities, upgrades, files etc. Do these web sites have similar d/loading issues? No Siree, they don't, as these game developers LOOK after their costumers and do the right thing by having super fast DL servers. Compare this to N3V treating their member/customer base. They are shouting that they have reached 500 000 members, which is very well, how about giving something back to their LOYAL members by FIXING these DLS issues. I have spend the better part of 1000 dollars buying games etc. from them, surely I could expect a similar treatment EA/Bethesda/Blizzard or any other game developer gives to their costumers or people will start walking by voting with their feet. Can you really blame these people for doing so?
Harsh word perhaps but as said, I had the VERY SAME DLS issues/problems that are posted here for the better part of 12 months but apparently N3V doesn't give a toss about these or they would have fixed these by now or at the very least, tried a different way for us to d/load. In the olden days, when one could access via FTP any folder (loco, roll. stock etc.) on the DLS, all was AOK, as soon as N3V rooted around with the DLS to "improve" it, THAT IS WHEN ALL THESE troubles started. Don't believe me? Check back on the DLS issues forum to see when the proverbial hit the fan and then you will agree with me too.
N3V can only fool most people some of the time or fool some of the people most of the time but surely, they can not continue to fool all of us all of the time.
