Issue with 'JR' smart signals

I've set up the Safetran signals on a route of mine and they are fantastic, however, there is an issue I'm experiencing with certain types of signals. The intermediate signals don't seem to be able to display an approach medium indication (flashing yellow over solid red). For example, if I'm stopping at a siding ahead and holding the main, I will receive a clear signal at the intermediate, followed by an approach (solid yellow over solid red) at the entrance to the siding, and finally a stop signal at the other end siding; no approach medium was ever received. This obviously creates issues as I have no idea that I'm stopping until I hit the approach, and many times there is only 6000 or so feet between the approach and the stop. Oddly enough, every other type of signal seems to be able to display approach medium just fine.

Am I doing something wrong with regards to the set-up of the signals, or is this simply a limitation of the system?

Thank you!

You can not get an approach medium to a signal that is not displaying a medium aspect.

(flashing yellow over solid red).

You appear to want an advance approach judging by your description. I looked it over, and I can't remember why I would not have allowed that but apparently it slipped my mind. I would like to work such things into them as optional because not every RR has the advance aspects. I shall have to do a little bit of an upgrade soon.

Surely you can spot this appraoch signal well in advance of that 6000 foot span yes? :)

Yes, advance approach may be what it is called. Being from Canada, I'm not overly knowledgeable when it comes to the nomenclature of US signal aspects. Anyways, wasn't trying to nitpick; the signals work fine otherwise.

Thanks.
