Is there any locomotive cab a German shepherd dog could NOT climb into by himself? A steam locomotive cab? A carbody? A switch engine? A hood unit?

If I were to own and operate a railroad, I would want it to be dog-friendly both for passengers and railroad workers. A trained and agile working dog like a shepherd might offer peace of mind to certain workers as yard workers, section maintenance workers or workers who have to step off engines in some dark, remote places at night to throw switches or do other duties with boots on the ground outside the relative safety of a locking loco cab. American road switchers, mainline hood units and yard switchers have low porch steps that a half-way-agile and trained working dog should be able to climb from the ground. A steam locomotive or a carbody engine like an F7 doesn't look so dog-friendly for large canine board-ability.

This nighttime RR worker on a speeder could have benefited from a security dog:
