Is there a way to list favorites in Surveyor 2009?

In Trainz 2009 is there a way to limit the listing of locomotives and rolling stock in Surveyor mode to the list of favorites selected in Railyard mode?

I have ask this question several times. Never got a satisfactory answer. And Auran is avoiding this as they think the way it is done in the new filtering system is the best. Well... it is not. Many of us would like to get the selection as it was in 04. Solution? Get a piece of paper and write the name of what you want, and keep it in safe place for future usage: That is progress. Yes? And by the way, If you think getting rolling stock is messy, try to get a particular piece of track, tree or building...

If you have already selected favourites in Railyard, you can make the 'Favourites' selection in CM2 and dump the lot into the Picklist which you can see in Surveyor. You can also modify your favourites list in CM2 and it will change what you see in Railyard.

Or you can be more brutal and do the following.

In CM2, select 'Locomotives'/'Local' then in the main list, select the ones that you want to have in your favourites list. Invert the selection and disable the ones now selected.

Add 'and not' /'disabled' to the search parameters. All the ones that show should be only your selections. Select them all and drag to an empty Picklist.

Now do the same thing for Rolling Stock except do not clear the Picklist.

Finally you will end up with a picklist which is visible in Surveyor containing all your favourites, and Railyard will show the same selection. At this point you could open the CM2 main window with 'Favourites' selected and drag the contents of the picklist across, the screen in Railyard will show your choices. You can always add anything new by enabling it.

The new system does work and makes a lot of thing possible. When you get used to it you will find it is better integrated than TRS2004 and CMP.

Yes. Not immediately obvious but this is the way to do it.

In surveyor:

Open the Trains tab (F7) on the right of the screen.

Leaving it open click on the Content Search Filter button at the top of the screen. (Second button from the right - Ctrl-Shift-F).

Click on "+" sign.

Click on "Name".

A drop down list will appear.

Click on "Favourite Locos"

The list on the Trains tab will now show only your favourites.

Thanks Ken. It worked great! I wasn't aware of all the other stuff one can also access under the Content Search Filter; "+"; "Name" (List under in "Name" box).

How about giving ratings to your favorite items in CM2. Choose one or more items and right click and choose a rating 0 to 5. Then in the search filter, click the "+" and choose Rating in the drop down and the rating value in the other field. It works with all assets not just rolling stock and locos.
