Been up speaking to my old colleagues at the Ulster Folk & Transport museum and it seems they're taking delivery of an Iarnród Éireann B Class (B113). Unfortunately it's only going to be a static exhibit although it's guts are still intact. If I win Euromillions tonight, I'll pay to get it restored.

It was withdrawn in the mid 70s and has been sitting at Dublin's Inchicore works ever since. Apparently the only reason it was never scrapped was as it served as a sound barrier. It was loaded onto the back of a truck this week and has been delivered to Whitehead in the North East of Ireland prior to moving to UFTM's Cultra site.
On the modern side of things, NI Railways are currently testing one of the brand new CAF4000 units (4001) which will run 2000 miles fault-free before acceptance by NIR. I have yet to see it but apparently it's being run around the clock to rack up the necessary miles. Almost identical in appearance to the CAF3000, the only obvious external change is a flatter cab end and smaller warning panel below the windscreen as opposed to the all round panel on the CAF3000s, along with changed light clusters.
