iPortal Confusion

Hi all,

A buddy of mine and I are attempting to figure out how to send trains back and forth via iPortal. He is using TS:MAC build 50281 and I'm using TS2012 build 57720 (not sure if that is creating a conflict?)

The trains we are trying to send consist of assets we have confirmed we both have downloaded, and all settings are set to our usernames and correct portal IDs. I read somewhere that TS2012 iPortaling over internet may not be supported. Anyone currently use it via internet and have it work like they intend with someone else? We never see each others trains show up on our respective routes. Does the transfer take a while or are we just not doing something correctly?

Sorry if this thread is redundant but nobody seems to have given a solution to this problem.

Thanks all!

Steve

As far as I know, iPortaling between different versions of the game has never worked.

You mention you have build 57720. I suggest applying the hotfixes to get to build 61388. This will not solve your iPortaling problem though.

As far as I know, iPortaling between Trainz12 works, so long as you are on the same version and build. I have tested sending trains to lower builds, and we didn't have any luck.

Ah, so maybe the same build will do it. I patched to 61388 and I must say, that version is just horrendous and the game has literally destroyed itself from the inside out. I guess I'm spending tomorrow backdating down to 50281! Thanks for the help guys.

Even if you would be able to get on the same build, you would still be on different versions of the game; TS12 and Mac1.

We have different opinions on that. So does the rest of the forum. Not worth the trouble to have that discussion here again, but in short: It is not that black and white.

Waste of time and not possible.
To go down in build, you will need to do a re-install; you can not undo a patch. Next to that, 50281 is the Mac build number; not TS12. You will get to 49922 or 57720. There are some numbers in between, but they are specific language versions (and guess that? They dont work with eachother in multiplayer).

From memory, TS12 build 49922 and lower routes should be compatible with TS Mac 1, and TS12 build 57720 and higher routes should be compatible with TS Mac 2 (in terms of multiplayer at least). I may be wrong though. In effect though, the equivalent Mac version for TS12 build 57720 or higher is TS Mac 2, not the original TS Mac 1.
