Invisible Tracks and Platforms

Can anyone explain where you would use Invisble tracks and invisble Platforms

Invisible tracks to make the tracks at an industry disappear, in order to use it like a scenery item, or to allow you to drive cars and other objects on a road with a track hidden (for locomotives designed to look like cars, planes etc), and invisible stations to make a non-interactive station interactive.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, just examples of what I have used these objects for.

Another use for invisible track is to extend the siding beyond the buffer stop. I use this to get an AI train to stop nearer the buffer stop than it usually does. One obviously has to adjust the invisible track to a suitable length by trial and error.

I use it to make dual gauge track. The mesh for the 3 rails can be a bridge type spline and 2 invisible track splines actually carry the ng and sg trains or the 3 rail mesh can be set as a normal track spline to carry just the sg and the ng carried on an invisible track spline layed along side it.

It's also required in making dual gauge turnouts and some of the finescale turnouts.

Quite useful stuff actually.
