Invisible SPEED markers

Can anyone tell me how these things work? I put them on a test track, but don't seem to be working right. First of all, when they attach to one rail facing in one direction, I take it that they only work in that direction, right? Reversing directions, the loco is stuck on that same speed forever. Is there a minimum or maximum distance between each one? My test track is a single loop. Is that confusing the individual speed markers? I put a 10, 25 and 35 marker spaced around the circle. The loco seems to get stuck on 10 once it makes a loop. I'm not sure how they work.

Thanks.

Does your loop have signals? Unsignalled trainz run under 'caution' signals which will be full speed for your 5 and 10 markers, but iirc 1/2 speed for your 35.

Rather than a loop, set out a straight or curved track, place one signal just in front of where the loco starts and another two near the far end. That should give your loco a green sig, so any speed markers placed along the track should have full effect. Like all speed markers they will only work in the direction they are facing....
