Invisible platforms: can they be made to work?

Is there a way to make the invisible platforms (117140:20001 - 20008) that are all over Razorback Classic (shipped w/ trs2006) work? or better yet have the 4 or 5 instances that make up a platform merge into one? (patterson doesn't really need 30 stations, it needs 1 with 6 platforms.

I know andi06 has created the perfect substitues and I have replaced all the offending stations with his or with the brick stations that appear in the route. Several times (lost to reinstals).

This time I'm having a rough time with Barit. It's in the middle of a long segment of double track that ess-curves and when i try to make a hole everything goes screwy. It seems what works to smooth curves for single track doesn't work on double. The track-straighten tool will straighten anything (the nearest fence or power lines) but the track I want to straighten.

Any tips on laying/modifying double track or scripts for DaveRP's Invisible Platforms greatly appreciated

Hi Chris,

You have just discovered one of the anomalies in Trainz. Double track does not straighten with the straighten track tool, and it is almost imposible to make a smooth curve with it. The best way to overcome these problems is to use single track and lay one track one way and the other track the oposite way. Most of the experienced route builders do not use double track, it causes many problems with AI drivers. I think there is also a problem with one of the English brick stations, I think it's the Axminster station.

Cheers,

I would never use double track. But the razorback people did and short of building the route from scratch I'm going to have to deal with it somehow.

And the bit about computers is true. I really understand my DOS-3 286-12

Unfortunately, there is a fair bit of double track on the RBR :( Unfortunate, but it can make life easier (or at least quicker) sometimes. And when your running scripted activities (which is what RBR is designed for), the direction the track was laid doesn't matter as much IIRC.

As for the stations. The ones that don't actually load/unload were modified by the RBR guys so that the scripts weren't running all the time, since this will greatly reduce performance on the layout. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is any way for an end user to turn them on/off. :(

Your best bet would be to replace all of the existing 'interactive' stations with their default counterparts, and to replace the invisible platform with the matching one off the DLS (might have been included in 06, can't remember). They are the same models, just with the scripts edited for RBR's purposes :)

And AC, I had a look at that link you gave. Looks more like advertising for your site than anything helpful for this specific problem, since I can't see any items in there that would directly replace the stations on the RBR...

Is not a replacement to anything, is a add-on to display and transfer loads from an industry to rollingstock. Is just like any other traincar set on invisible track next to the siding track. It is listed on said page as "Invisible Trackside Load Platform" just because I show link to my assets is not really advertising it directly, that is done by many with "third-party Fansite listings and as many are doing, a link in the signature, like my banner. I was just trying to help!

Thanks Zec

That's exactly what I have been doing. Andi Smith's invisible stations work quite well.

The problem, and its only a problem at Barit, is that you have to make a hole to insert the station. As long as Ikeep an eye on where the signals move to I'm ok.

Except for the half mile or so strech of curved double track at Barit. There seems to be no way to restore the track geometry.

I'm hoping (try it tomorrow) that a piece of fixed track will force double track in the direction I want but I'm half expecting to discover the fixed track won't connect to double track.

Stay tuned

Oh, AC, does that thing show the product? That's a huge improvement over it dissapearing into a large black peculiar looking hole. I'll definately be using it for freight. And if it can cover a really long passenger platform then all my problems (except double track, the occasional lost signal and, of course missing assets) are solved.

This is set as a trancar, meant to be static on invisable track, will show all loads you assign to it! And is at ground level, but can be adjusted but the track height, so you can even set on the industry platform.
