Intel discovers bug with Sandy Bridge (6-series chipset)

Nope, not again at all.

I haven’t seen anything like this going all the way back to 2002.

It is good to see Intel acting quickly on the issue though.

I don't just mean with glitches, but early adopters get screwed all the way around. Betamax and HD-DVD are more popular examples. Then there's the Early Adopter Tax...

But, yeah, Intel seems to be handling the recall well. Good thing though because this has gotten a lot of attention from the media.

Not here.

Going back to the Pentium 4 days I think I up graded to just about every chipset for socket 478. From there it was on to AMD and the Athlon 64 along with chipsets from Nvidia and ATI. I even remember using the first ATI Cross Fire chipset based motherboards for the Athlon 64.

Then in the fall of 2006 I went with the Core 2 pretty much right at release and then on to the i7 and X58.

Never had any problems with being an early adopter of any of that fresh new tech nor have I seen any recall like this before either.

Don't laugh too soon!
Actually the performance compared to Intel’s I series is laughable.

2009 was the release date originally for their (still to be released) new chipset, IIRC.
What chipset would that be?

AMD did release a new chipset in early 2010 (called the 890).

Although the AMD 890 chipset is said to support the new Bulldozer CPU’s (spring/summer), AMD is supposedly going to release new 990FX, 990X and 970 chipsets with the new processor’s launch.

I take it that the new P67 boards will not be out untill Midd to late April then?:(
Looks like I will have to hold back on that upgrade then.:'(
I was going for the azus p8p67-pro with an intel i5 2500k.

I can't see a descent alternative!

can any one ells see one as good?
