From my distant memories of this software the expired infractions staying is coded into the software itself, it is not giving someone sadistic pleasure its just a fact of forum software like this.

I guess so, it just gets my back up seeing it all the time.

As a reminder to everyone never post your email address.

No viruses on my machine. A friend reckons that it could be that someone else has picked up a virus and infiltrated their machine which knows my email address. It could have 'spoofed' the email so that it looks like it came from me.

Therefore you have been made the "fall guy" thats just plain evil.:(

I thought to speculate on one reason infractions could still be there, I have one for signature size, but figured it a waste of posting.

Maybe they could treat them like Driving infractions. We take a Trainz driving course with video proof and buy off points.:D

Or you ISP's mail system is infected.

Mine was for signature size. Go into any thread now and dozens of members have signatures all the wrong size. I think the reason this is not enforced now is because there are some major contributors who have large signatures to advertise their content - locomotives, buildings, layouts, whatever. Hit them with an infraction and you lose a major player. That's my opinion.

It's a game of favorites with the mods, if you are a YES man, you have nothing to worry about. If you have a different opinion than one of the mods, you will get those stupid points, I'm still waiting on my catalog, with all of the points I have, I should be able to get something really nice out of it.:p

Hmmmm..... with that comment I see more points being awarded to you in the near future.

Have fun,

If you notice a forum banner or signature that is oversized (or any other issue for that matter) instead of criticising us for missing it, why don't you try reporting it so we can take action?

Because I would have to sit here all day. I'm not so much criticising you for missing all the others as to why I have to have a constant reminder for the last 18 months.

I'm 66, not a kid anymore, I don't need a constant reminder. What purpose are they serving, I've got the message after 2½ years? Are they likely to end up carved on my tombstone?
Lol mate.
I needed that laugh.

Don't get me started on the warnings.
I only have that one "infamous" warning, also for banner size, which was over a year ago now, and it looks like it will have to be listed there for eternity (which is ok, because it makes me laugh when I look at it :hehe:).
You never know, they might have another "forum crash", and we'll all be set free!!!

On the topic of using the "report to moderator" option that Nat has mentioned, up until recently, that has always worked, and the mods have taken action when I've used it.

I say until recently because about a month or two ago, I noticed in one thread I was posting in that 3 people on the one page had oversize banners, and not fractionally either, with one's filesize being half a meg, and one's height was heading for 300 pixels.
I reported the 3 of them, and although I can't remember who they were, I gave up checking after 2 weeks because it was obvious that nothing was going to be done.

Maybe if we can get one of the mods to assure us that action will be taken against people who don't follow the rules, then maybe a few of us should get "banner police" badges made up and "clean this city up" :D

Not that I want people to get warnings, and I don't think people who are slightly over the limits should get warnings until the major offenders have been sorted, but it's one rule for all.

Smiley.

I've recently received two reports on oversized banners - one has been resized and the other has had an email sent requesting action on his behalf before I take action.

If you have any others, send the reports now.
