Industry Unload Problem

Using Multi-Industry track. Cars filled with cement., the specified load. I have specified cement as the product for the Multi-Indistry track. I also specified the particular car type/name to unload. I am not sure what queues mean. I think of a line of something waiting in a QUEUE for an action. Not sure how this applies to my simple unload a car.

Under Processes I click on the left PLUS sign (inputs). I get a blank Product/Commodities list. However, if I go back to a car I can see a full list of Products/Commodities. If I click on the right Plus sign I see cement. I assume there ins and outs are relative to the industry track which is the subject of the instructions.

Under Products I have once again selected cement and the name of the unloading car.

The result is that the train stops at the New Multi-Industry track but nothing happens?

Cement must be listed in the Queue. This tells the track how much of the product it can unload here. Then make sure the queue number is in the track and product tabs.

This I learned by the seat of my pants:

1) Go to QUEUES. Click the PLUS sign and select the commodity you desire. On Size (This is sort of the size of the warehouse of this queue), increase the size to 10,000 or more. This size is in units, and you can only change it after selecting at least one commodity (How many units per ton depends on the commodity).
2) Go to TRACKS. Plus sign and you should see a list of commodities you put in Queues. Select one and it will show below. Mode is what will happen when a car goes over the track. Load, unload or both. If the queue is none, click on it and select the number of that queue (never leave it on none or the train will freeze when over the track!).
3) Go to PROCESSES. If you are downloading, click plus sign at left of red arrow. Set the number of tons (or units) to consume. Here you can see the ratio of units versus tons for that particular commodity. It may confuse you on the "consume" term. It means that in a given period of time whatever you download, goes to oblivion, But, you could skip the PROCESSES part, and you can still download commodities. Anyway set the number to 1,000,000 if you desire.
4 Go to PRODUCTS. Select any commodity: See that "vehicle is in None? leave it alone. If you assign one type of wagon, only that type will work. None means ALL cars will work.

This is a very basic way to set-up the M.I.Ns. If anyone has a question, post it!

Phil got a question, in your, pdf first page, what is the product on the flat car behind the tender?

Thanks. John

Perchpole used to have a payware site. One of the wagons was a depressed centre weltrol that came in two versions - one with UK three link couplers and the other with North American buckeye coupler.

It came with a series of loads. That's one of them. From memory, a ladle.

Phil: I need some explanation on the issue of "one type of wagon". Leaving it in None, means that any wagon (configured for the particular commodity) will carry it. But if I assign an specific wagon, then the others will not load that particular commodity from this queue. If there is a way other than this, I need to now.

"But if I assign an specific wagon, then the others will not load that particular commodity from this queue."

I've probably churned out as many sessions with interactive industries and freight cars as anybody in the history of Trainz, and my experience indicates that this is not the case.

Try an experiment:

 • Make a consist of several different box cars that will load General Goods.
 • Configure the Multiple Industry New to produce General Goods and assign one of the box cars to it.
 • Now see if all the box cars will load General Goods.

I think you will find that they do.

Do you mind trying it and reporting back?

I took up your challenge with a consist of ten boxcars and only one of them included in Multiple Industry New... They all loaded with general goods as you say.

Yes. I tested it as indicated. It does not make a difference if we select a particular car : All of them load. My perception on this comes from the old times of 04 and perhaps up to 09. Then it did work as it should have. But today, what is the purpose of selecting one type of box car or leaving it on None? I guess that configuring the box cars is a better way.. Oh! well...

In my experience that is not correct.
Phil

Pretty sure "select vehicle" is only to allow the industry to tell you the remaining queue amount in carloads (how many cars it will fill).

Pick a car with a capacity that best represents the cars you'll be using (you can always change it later).

What I wonder: Is there a way to connect several of these together so you can have more than one process and more than one track (but still sharing the same pile (queue) of products? [[Does the LARS **extern** tag have something to do with this??]]

I have a little factory that uses plastics, steel (rolls), copper (wire and pipe) etc. and make several different items with them, with widely varying proportions of the ingredients. Some weeks we ship a lot of the stuff that's mostly metal some weeks mostly plastic...
I guess it would be nice to have a way to consume what I actually use.

OK, I'm way off topic here. Better put this in another post :-)

Another reason for filling the product section with a wagon, is that you can then change the unit quantities you want.
Chris004,
What you want is a thing called "Industry Link" that will link tracks together. I have tried it but couldn't work out how to use it as documentation is scarce.
I use the 'External" a lot and works well.
Cheers,
Mike
