Industries imitating Houdini

I have installed not less than four industries, each multiple times, on my route. I have then gone into Quickdrive, tested the industries, found them in fine working order, only to return to Surveyor to find them gone without a trace. I grow weary of rebuilding the same industry repeatedly.

Is either the route or session layer locked, or are you putting the industry in the session layer and not overwriting the route or vice versa.

I'm still in the dark about layers and how they work but I do know that neither layer is locked. Guess I need to find a good tutorial on layers, if one exists. Just finding current tutorials is proving to be a chore for me. Where are they hidden?

Looks like the industries are, as a high school friend of mine called it, 'pulling a Houdini'. My aunt also came up with a saying for these situations: There it was and it wasn't there.

Just when I thought I had it, it got even more baffling to me.

I am attempting to use SAP Multi industries. Yesterday I installed and configured three of them. They all worked in Quickdrive. I also have four others placed on the route but not connected or configured. It's just so they are handy when I need one. Today, all three that I did set up are missing but the ones I have placed trackside are still there and retain any settings I made in them.

I am configuring them in Session layer, locking the layer, saving with overwrite of route and session and still they vanish.

That's more than likely the problem. You need to only save the session, not the route also.

I have just wasted an entire day rebuilding my industries only to see them vanish again. WHAT IS THE BLEEPING SECRET?

This is why I quit on this game before. The learning curve is a cliff and there is no help to be found anywhere. Help page links that lead to empty pages, YouTube tutorials that cannot be read and have no sound files, and absolutely nothing anywhere explaining layers in this game.

OK, my rant is over.

Will someone PLEASE tell me how to set up PERMANENT industries on my route. I want get to the fun part of all this.

OK. I think I have it now.

Create a route.
Create a session.
Edit industries in session.
Merge session to route.
Lock route.
Save.

It seems to be working now. At least I didn't lose everything this time.

Wow it's about time this got explained! It has been driving me crazy too. I got so tired of wasting hours on the game, knowing everything I did would disappear later on. I was going to do a thread about this problem but I figured no one would answer.

I used to have similar problems. I now save the Session and then close Surveyor and restart the session from the Routes and Session window. I never use quick drive at all.
