Industrial Mayhem Route Refusing to Download

Yesterday (June 29th) I bought Trainz 2022 and the Industrial Mayhem route during the Steam sale, I moved over some of the assets I have from 2019 to 2022, then downloaded one other route without an issue. A little later I went to download the Industrial Mayhem route, and it gave me an error message after attempting multiple downloads. I disregarded it and then went to bed. All of this morning I have been repeatedly trying to download it, and it keeps failing over and over again. I have checked and there is enough space on the computer, and I have no idea what is going on.

I suspect that the problem is with Steam, not Trainz or N3V. N3V have acknowledged that they have problems with DLC purchased through Steam.

The reported issue is that Steam does not automatically pass on to N3V the identity of users who have purchased DLC (which, I believe, actually comes from N3Vs servers and not Steam) so N3V do not know who is allowed to download the items.

The solution is to raise a ticket with N3V Support (link at top of this page) so that they can manually confirm the purchase. That, at least, is my understanding of the problem.

I was able to download and install Industrial Mayhem from N3V without any issues. I have Trainz Plus Gold membership so all DLC is free.

Another possibility is that the download is being blocked by:-
  • your AV software (have you added trs22.exe to its real time exclusion list?)
  • your VPN (if you have one - disable it and try again)
  • your firewall (not sure what to do there but it can be reconfigured)
  • your ISP (are you on T Mobile by any chance?)

best to download it in Trainz
Yes, if you are downloading from Steam (I don't know if it works that way or not) then try downloading directly from the Content Store from the TRS22 launcher.

Click the Purchased icon (top right) and the Industrial Mayhem route should appear (assuming Steam have passed that information onto N3V). If not then the support ticket would be the best idea.

Maybe I can help with understanding Steam and DLC, for a long time DLC purchased from Steam would automatically download and install from Steam's servers. That changed a few years ago for new DLC packages. For most DLC released in the last 4 years I believe, the purchase is processed by Steam but the files are downloaded through the Content Store within the game. As Peter said there is an issue where the purchase from Steam is not associated with your MyTrainz username. This is resolved by a helpdesk ticket. Once they verify the purchase through their Steam vendor account, they will add it to your account so it validates correctly.

The other issue to watch for is that for a while, DLC sold on Steam was limited to only working in the Trainz version it was labeled as compatible with in the name of the DLC. For example, A locomotive might be TRS19 Frisco GP50 and also TRS22 Frisco GP50. If I purchase the Frisco GP50 from the Trainz Store, it will be available for download in both TRS19 and TRS22 but if purchased from Steam as TRS19 Frisco GP50 then it only shows in the Content Store as purchased in TRS19. It does not show as purchased in TRS22. I have no idea why and I don't know if this is still true as I stopped making DLC purchases from Steam because of this issue.

so what is interesting about this situation is that it is showing up under the purchased routes tab, will begin to download, and then fail. I also do not have HD terrain if that would have anything to do with it.

What you consider enough space does not mean it has. How much space is on your C drive? Even if your data folder is on another drive, Trainz will download to the C drive to unpack and then install to your data folder. If it fails to download, it is usually a lack of space to unpack the download.

I have freed up 44gbs on the hard drive, and it is under the purchased

Under purchased. Do you mean in Trainz or the Content Store?
What is the status under the Purchased tab, assuming this is the Content Store?

How much free space do you have?

The content is highly compressed and when it's downloaded and installed, they are expanded. Unlike other programs, Trainz does this almost simultaneously with files being installed from the package at the same time it's being downloaded. You can see this occur if you look at the Client logs. You can find the Client logs under the Developer menu item on the Launcher. You may even find more information there too as to why the installation of content is failing.
